Over 500 racers sho wed up for three days of racing . In Saturday night's ju mp contest , Steve Cross executed a pseud o-su perman conve rting to a fro n t-w heel wh eelie, rolli ng in to a cartwheel, tying Brock Sellards' hee l-clicker for the prize mon ey. Mike Karin, josh Sweat, Ch arlie Dunaway and Gay lon Dixon completed the top six aro und the first tu m . Dixon gated second with Karn ow h ot on his heels. The two ba ttled until Dixon finally put Karnow away on lap 16. Sellards wo n by a 10-second margin. Sellards gained an earl y three-second lead in th e 125cc A main. D ixo n he ld d own secon d ahead of Kamow and joe OeIhof. OeIhof mo ved int o third on lap two when Kamow cased the rockers. The field held for the duration,' givi ng Sellards his fifth main-even t win . Sunday's 250cc A main closed the w eekend with Karnow lead ing the pack aro u nd the first t u rn . NOV. 19 Victor McAnally and Bret Braddy split the wi nn ings in the Open Expert class a t the Purcell Expo Center, with Braddy winning the Dash For Cash while McAnally won the main event. The Dash For Cash was all Braddy. A fierce batt le for second raged between joey Duvall and McAnally. On lap four, McAnally and Duvall both went down, leaving second place to Chris Reid. In th e Ope n Expe rt m a in e ven t, D u v a ll jumped the line and was sent to the th ird line. After several restarts, the main finally got un der w ay w ith Scott Deu b ler ge tti ng the holesh ot. McAnally and Brad dy gave chase thr ou gh the first lap . On the second lap, McAnally and Braddy bo th got by Deubler and started challenging each other for first place. Before long, Duv all got by Deub ler and was giving chase to Braddy. At th e checkered it w as McAn all y, Braddy and Duvall finishing one, two and three . In th e 250cc Expe r t class, Duva ll go t th e h olesh ot an d was quickly challenged by Rusty Bond. Casey Burton challenged and got by Bond for secon d . By lap four , Burton was in the lead . Duvall kept the pressure on, getting by Burt on at the line. Burt on wou nd up in second, Bond in third . The 80cc class was red -flagged because of a cra sh involvi ng C ar l Hi ckm an a n d Em ery Ma ssey. On the rest ar t, D.j . Fisher fastest at Vancouver ST By Clay Light VANCOUVER, WA, DEC.17 National number 12 Rex Fisher prov ed to be the fastest rider in attendance at the fou rth rou nd of th& six -race Indoor Short Trac k Series a t th e Clark Cou nty Fairgr ounds Expo Arena, running away wi th the Ope n Pro main event. Fish er flew to a w in in the Ope n Pro-class qu alifier, which fe a ture d a ste lla r lineu p of Expert and Pro--Am pro fessional riders, to sit the pole position for the Open Pro mai n. However, Geo rge Prind iville got th e ju mp on th e p ack whil e Lee jensen and Fish e r follo wed. Fisher, ridi ng a Rotax, trailed jen sen, a top local ProAm rider, for several laps, finally getting ar ound jensen on lap five. Two lap s later Fisher grabbed the lead from Prin d iville, an d after two close la p s o f con fr on ta t ion , o p e ne d up th e day ' s biggest lead. Dymond dogs Sheak at Prairie Dog Grand Prix By Doug Mohr I PERRIS, CA, DEC. 3 After a five-year hia tus, the Prairie Dogs along with Goat Breker and the entire GFI Racing crew brought GP racing back to Perri s Racew ay. Th e two-m ile course; wh ich included the norm al motocross track plus a bac k section, was well-received by'all the racers wi th a turnout of 450 ride rs for the one-day event. Micky Dym ond w as the big winn er for the day bringing hom e first place overall in the Vet and 250/500cc Combined races. The 250/5OOcc race was the high ligh t of the day, as it matched MX Vet Dymo nd w ith up and-coming 125cc supercross and national racer Sco tt Sheak. Both ra cer s sta r te d 30 seco n ds behind the District 37 Experts, but by the secon d tum had caught up to the back of the pac k and ha d worked their way tip to first and second by the th ird lap , Dymond ho lding a sligh t advantage. With abo ut 20 m inutes to go in t he 45minute race , Sheak began push in g to ca tc.h Dym ond, w ho was beginn in g to p ull away. She ak was the only ride r of the da y to clear a 55foot double before the "Tower" tab letop . It was not eno ugh , as Dymond had buil t up a sizeable lead. Thi rd place went to Drey Dircks on a CR500 .and fo u rth was Nevada Rally winner johnny Campbell on a stock XR4oo. Other notable entries were Baja 1000 winner Pau l Krause, w inner o f the Four-Stroke race; Speedway cha mpion Brad Oxley, second 250cc Vet Novice; Kawasaki team manager Roy Turner, sixth 250cc Sen io r Exp er t; a nd Au stralian Nationa l MX champion Kim Ashk enazi! overall winner of the 125cc race.
