Remember me?
Pennsylvania's WaJ'I'eI1 Reid says that getting back
together for the White Brothers Vet World Clampionship is "like anny buddies getting back together." His fondest memories of motocross are the
local Southem Califomia races, which he feels were
the most fun. Warren still races three or four times
a year and runs a motocross school. During his
spare time he works as a custom cabinet contractor.
just a hair for him to squeeze by. When
the white flag. came out the fans were on
their feet cheering for their favorite riders.
The final lap would determine who
would be the new World Challlpion.
Cooper was all over Dubach as the two
riders weaved their way past lappers.
Cooper made a few moves for the lead,
but Dubach held him off. When the two
riders crossed the finish line, Dubach took
the win by a bike length.
In the 35+ Intermediate class, multitime ATV Grand National Champion
Gary Denton showed that he could still
ride on two wheels almost as good as
four. In the first moto Denton pulled the
holeshot, while David Danko and Ke.vin
Ferguson trailed. Denton quickly pulled
away from the field. On the second lap
Matt Tedder was on the gas as he started
to pick off riders one by one. Tedder made
his way past Danko and set his sights on
Denton. Denton's lead quickly diminished
as Tedder closed in. Tedder took over the
lead with time to spare and went in for
the first moto win. Denton held on for the
second spot as Danko crossed the finish in
third.
In moto two Danko held the early lead,
but Denton was right there to take over.
. Denton learned his lesson in the first moto
and tried to maintain a steady pace without burning himself out. Tedder came up
to challenge Denton as the laps wore on.
Going into the last lap, Tedder was all
over the tail of Denton, but Denton somehow managed to hold off the charge until
the end. Denton took home another title
as Tedder had to settle for the first place
loser position.
Kent Howerton claimed the 40+ victory over his racing rivals from the '70s.
Howerton beat out racing greats Kenny
Zalut, Rich Eierstedt and Gary Jones. The
overall came down to th.e second moto as
Zahrt and Howerton were allover each
other. Zahrt led the first part of the moto
as Howerton was hot on his trail. Howerton made the pass for the lead with one
lap to go. Zahrt tried to retake the lead,
but when the race was over, had to settle
for second.
In other race action, Tom Harnm swept
both motos to take the 60+ Intermediate
class.
Hamm outrode fellow racers Fred
Parsen, Rich Zeiler and Norm Aunstrong.
