I Scott Summers (Hon) scored the overall win at the November 5 AMA National Hare Scrambles Championship Series finale, held in Seattle, Washington, and in doing so, wrapped up his fourth National Hare Scrambles National Championship. Rodney Smith (Suz) was second overall ahead of Summers' title rival Scott Plessinger (K1M), Jason Dahners (KTM) and Scott McLaughlin (Y!lm). Seattle marked Summers' 58th National win, and the seven-time National Champion (four Hare Scrambles, three Cross Country) is now officially American Honda's winningest rider. Sumrqers was previously tied with Rick Johnson and Jeff Stanton, each of whom have six championships to their credit. AMA Supercross an.d 250cc Motocross National Champion Jeremy McGrath (Hon) won the opening round of the 1995 World Supercross Championship in Barcelona, Spain, on November 5. McGrath topped his teammate Steve Lamson in the final with.:Lagy Ward (Yam) .finishing third. Soutl:; African Co.IlirlDu~ore (Suz) finished- fourth with Ryan Hughes (Kaw) taking fifth. Belgi~ Stefan Everts and Frenchman Mikael Pichon; who won the second sem:ifi,IW (Mc;G.rath. won the first), both crashed tthing'the final and it was left up to Dugmore to prevent an American sweep of the top five places. No World Supercross Championship son racing a privateer Yamaha 500 in the 500cc World Championship Road Race Series, before receiving help from Kenny Roberts' team late in th.e year. He ended up 11th ip the championship, with his best result - a ninth-place finish - coming in the British Grand.Prix at Donington Park. Two-time World Champion Max Biaggi broke the lap record at the Mugello Circuit in Italy on October 25, lapping at 1:54.7 to better the 1:55.0 he turned during qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix in June. New signee Dorlano Romboni, in his first test session on the 400cc Aprilia, clocked a 1:54.8. Hot off the rumor mill: Word has it that Robbie Reynard will join Pedro Gonzalez on a Honda support team that will receive backing from Primal Impulse casual wear, Bill's Pipes and Fox Racing. No official press releases have been made, but the deal is said to be secure' for two years. . Miguel DuHamel and fellow Canadian Steve Crevier are among the six nominees for. motorcycle road racer of the year in the 1995 Performance Racing News/Mopar Readers' Choice Awards. A win for DuHamel would be his second straight in the category. The other nominees for the award are PascalPicotte, Owen }'leichel, Frank Wilson,i,. and the endurance racing team of Tirxu I Ruhl and Ian.
