Lodi Cycle Bowl DIRT TRACK Fourth Annual 'Engines Only Formula 100 Nationals JOfIY, y8 own Lodl Adult-class National win, which came after a close early battle with Spencer, but because his son, Frank Jr., won the lOOcc C-division event after crashing twice during the preliminaries, and because his daughter ichole sang the national anthem. Spencer led the start of the ZO-Iap alional with Iwanaga second and Nye third, but ye easily moved by as lwanaga was nursing injuries from a heat-race incident and was definitely not up to snuff. Riding his brother Brad's bike after blowing a transmission in one bike and losing a motor in another, Spencer's luck in the main proved to be no better as telltale puffs of smoke on Lap six signaled an abused bike. Nye continued to close up as the power went away on Spencer's bike, and Dominic DeMario ran third over Arbogast and Corsetti, Spencer's motor finally expired and ye went on to inherit the lead and take the win over Iwanaga, Arboga t and Corsetti with Phil Cascio sixth over Joe Carrera, Rob Damron, Jim Ingoglia and Shawn Raggio. On the bikes, the Pro class was easily won by Damron on a Wood-Rotax. Donny Hart worked very hard to get to second and could not catch Damron, Larry Andrews was third after a goof fight with Billy Martin. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States. n Lodl Cycle Bowl Lodl, California Results: Oetober29,1995 0-16: 1. Toby Jorgensen (Hon); 2. Tony Heiring By Bill Spencer Photos by Mike Doran LODl, CA, OCT, 29 hirteen-year-old Toby Jorgensen continued the family tradition at the Lodi Cycle Bowl with a devastating win at the Fourth Annual Engines Only Formula 100 Nationals, Frank Nye Sr., patriarch of the series and the owner of Engines Only, won the adult class after Rod Spencer was sidelined. Spencer chased young Jorgenson throughout the ZG-lap 100cc IT A final; but once again, Jorgensen was in a class by himself, I-apping through to fifth place in the main and winning by more than half a lap. Jorgensen only waited until the first turn to ta ke the lead, and three turns later he had a five-bike-Iength cushion on Billy Arbogast. Spencer battled by Tony "The Tiger" Meiring for third and moved by Arbogast at the end of the first lap, with Meiring now followed by Paul Iwanaga and Mark Corsetti. Spencer put some breathing room between himself and Arbogast while Meiring closed up and moved ,past Arbogast for third. The smooth, almost effortless style of Jorgensen allowed him to keep up a pace that no one else could manage, and his lead continued to widen, Meiring pushed hard once too often off the righthander in the infield and bailed. The order. remained the same at the checkered flag with the exception of Corsetti getting by Arbogast for fourth and fifth. "I want to thank my dad for his help:' Jorgensen said afterward while in Victory Circle. Jorgensen also said that he was interested in forwarding his career on the pavement. "I want to do some dirt track racing, but 1 want to get into road ra'cing as soon as I can." Jorgensen's seven years of riding have netted him a third and two Nation- al wins in this class, and it would appear that he should be considered as a formidable force for the future.
