Kauffman, Marsh dominate at Road Atlanta Road Race By Van Funchess BRAZELTON, GA. OCr. 12, 1995 Ron Kauffman and Robert Marsh scored two victories each in the WERA Vintage Grand National Finals held at Road Atlanta Raceway, leading to two national championships for Marsh and three for Kauffman, who added a fifth-place finish to secure the third title. Race one, combining Vintage Four and Vintage One, saw Kauffman using the top-speed advantage of his Yamaha 250 two-stroke over his Honda CB350-mounted rivals. Rixon Breck.on and Gary Smith closed on Kauffman until they came upon backmarkers and Kauffman got away. Breckon held off Smith for second. Brian Surtees battled with Douglas Pedrick in Vintage Four, but Pedrick decided not to risk the war for the sake of the battle. Breckon, the defending national champion, came back after a stop-and-go penalty for jumping the start, working his way back to finish thind. Race three, combining Vintage Three and Vintage Six classes, saw Ed Salley storm to Vintage Three victory on a Yamaha XS7S0 over Pedrick and Richard Merhar. Pedrick was on a Suzuki SOO Titan and Merhar on a Yamaha 250. Kauffman was holding on to fourth on his Yamaha R5 until jesse Morris passed him on the final lap mounted on a Triumph 750 Trident.
