Team Green rider Casey Johnson had a great
week, first inking a deal with Pro Circuit and
then winning the top cash in the 125cc Pro class
at Barona Oaks Raceway during round three of
the CMC Trans-Cal Series.
The first 125cc Pro moto saw Chris Wheeler
grab the holeshot. Less than halfway through
the first lap, Johnson passed Wheeler with
David Pingree on his rear fender. Johnson held
off Pingree's every move for the first four laps
before Pingree sneaked by in a whoop section
for the eventual win. Dustin Nelson, who sulfered a mid pack start, r~eled in Wheeler and
Lytle to m.ove into third on lap six. Pingree
grabbed the checkered with Johnson and Nelson
in tow. Wheeler and Lytle finished fourth and
fifth, respectively.
Moto two saw Tommy Oowers get a
holeshot that was short-Lived. Johnson worked
fast and jumped past Clowers to gain the lead
with Pingree back in fourth piace. Johnson
cruised out front while Clowers, Wheeler and
Pingree staged a three-way battle for second.
Clowers kept his Honda hUll'llIling until iap six
where both Wheeler arid Pingree passed.
Pingree battled with Wheeler untU the last
lap when he sneaked under him to move into
second and make a last-ditch effort to catch
Johnson. Pingree was on fire and pulled to within three bike lengths of Johnson before sliding
out in a comer and handing Johnson an easy victory. Wheeler was second with Nelson, Pingree
and Clowers finishing behind him in that order.
