"There is no relationship between the MIC and the new group bei):lg formed by SEMA, despite the similari ty in names," the release said. "SEMA, while 'much larger than MlC, is highly concentrated in the automotive aftermarket and is entering the motorcycle trade with a specific membership group for the first time."Bob Moffit, chairman of the MlC Board of Directors, said: "Our industry is relatively small compared to the automobile industry. I believe that unity among motorcycling business interests is vital to the continued growth and protection of our market. It may well be that companies that deal with both automotive and motorcycle markets can support 'more than one association, but fragmenting the influence of the motorcycle-specific businesses could also increase our vulnerability." The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) and the AMA have entered into a coopera tive agreement tha t will hel p keep public and private lands open for offhighway riding. The AMA will be the new publisher of two newsletters created and previously distributed by the MIC.
