Anyone interested in purchasing photos should look for the Motorcycle Madness booth on the midway at both events. MotoWorid 2 has been selected for a Cable ACE nomination. The National Academy of Cable Programming selected the motorcycling series out of 2245 entries submitted from 66 different regional and national cable networks. The show which was nominated was titled "The Italy Tour." Accomplished long-distance rider Gloria Valliere, 40, was killed on September'10 while riding her BMW near Ironwood in Michigan's upper peninsula. Valliere was airlifted to Deluth, Minnesota, but never regained consciousness. Valliere's greatest accomplishment as a motorcyclist was completing Three Flags (an annual timed road rally from Mexico to Canada) 17 out of the 20 times it has been run. Valliere was also known throughout the Northwest for her long association with Aloha BMW in Beaverton, Oregon, a shop she was parts manager and co-owner of for 14 years. She is survived by her mother, Charlotte Wheyland, her sister, Carol Thompson, and brother, Geoff Gould. The family has requested that any donations be made to the Organ Donor Awareness Program. The AMA now has an on-line presence with CompuServe. The AMA's on-line section can be found in CompuServe's Motorcycle Forum. Representatives from the AMA's government relations, Pro Racing, member activities and membership services departments will participate in the forum and the staff of American Motorcyclist magazine will coordinate the association's involvement. The final rounds of the Suns tar Sprockets Trans-Cal MX Nationals will be held at Quail Valley in Gorman, California on November 11-12. Quail Valley is located off Interstate 5, 26 miles .north of the Magic Mountain theme park. Bob Jones became the l000th person to purchase a Triumph motorcycle since the company re-entered the u.s. market one year ago. Jones bought an orange Speed Triple from South Bay Triumph in Long Beach, California. The Pomona Half Mile, scheduled for October 8 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, will host a best-dressed contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female adults who are judged to have the best motorcycle apparel. Kids under 12 will be judged separately. Follow the signs at the Fairplex to register. Road racer Jason Pridmore and American'Roadracing editor Brian Catterson will be the featured guests at Sport Bike Night inside America Live in Sacramento, CalHornia, on October 10 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information call Mike Summers at 916/3731557. Singer, song-writer Lyle Lovett will guest-host ESPN's MotoWorld on October 9 at 5 p.m. (Pacific time). Lovett will lead viewers on a dual sport ride through Baja California, Mexico. Motocross sensation Jeremy McGrath will again be using the services of personal trainer Gary Semics in preparation for his title defenses in 1996, according to Semics. Semics will be spending December, January and February with the Supercross and 250cc MX Champion. In response to the growing number of would-be Formula RD competitors who would like to race modified RDs, a special "exhibition" class has been added to the First-Ever Formula RD World Finals, scheduled to run on the Streets of Willow Springs in Rosamond, California, on November 25-26. For more information call 602/997-5887. Former World. and AMA Superbike National Champion Doug Polen still hasn't secured a ride for the 1996 racing season, but he's confident of doing so. "I don't have anything right at the moment," Polen said. "There's a few possibilities out there. It's hard to say when I'll know. It'd be nice to race here (in the AMA series), but there's not much here. Overseas is a fairly reasonable deal, but you never know." BORN: Identical triplet girls, Kelly, Dayna and Lauren, to California OHV Davis clinches Enduro title K awasaki Team Green's Ty Davis (right) earned his first off-road National Championship title in Turkey, Texas, on October 1. The former 125cc Western Regional Supercross Champion clinched the AMA National Championship Enduro Series with the overall win in Texas, with two events still remaining on the nine-round schedule. Davis has won five of the seven rounds held thus far. In Texas, Team Suzuki's five-time National Enduro Champion Randy Hawkins toqk runner-up honors, while Kawasaki-mounted Kelby Pepper carded third. Defending National Enduro Champion Steve Hatch rode his Team Suzuki RMX250 to fourth place, finishing one spot ahead of Italian Davide Trolli, on a Honda. KTM's Mike Lafferty was sixth. MARRIED: 125cc National Motocross Champion Steve Lamson, to Cammy Abbate in Fullerton, California, on September 31. BORN: Sean Michael Buckley, to Dunlop Tire's motorcycle tire national sales manager Mike Buckley and his wife, Linda, in Buffalo, New York, on September 29. SIGNED: An agreement between Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corp. (VEAM) to establish a joint venture company for the production and sale of motorcycles in Vietnam. The new company, Honda Vietnam Co., Ltd., hopes to begin operations in January, 1996, pending government approval.
