Kawasaki was out front with the Honda
of Brian Gibbs and the Kawasaki of Jeff
Sneyd in hot pursuit. The threesome
eventually separated themselves. from
the field as they fought over the top
spot. Rentzell continued to lead across
the stripe, but he couldn't shake Gibbs
as the two Georgians opened a small
gap over Sneyd.
With the lead pair dueling for the
lead, Sneyd suddenly was presented
with the opportunity to edge closer as
the final lap approached. Gibbs, on the
Roswell Fun Machines Honda, tried to
position himself for the final charge, but
got sideways in turn three and ran up
on the curb, losing valuable ground to
Rentzell's Sudco Kawasaki.
Rentzell, though, had his own problems on the last go-around: WI got into
seven and got on it just a little too hard
and almost high-sided, came up out of
the seat and was looking down at theĀ·
front wheel," Rentzell said. "By the time
I got it back up Brian (Gibbs) was right
beside me. It was a very good race, we
w~re side-by-side in the back section,
side-by-side on the back straight,
through the dip side-by-side."
With Rentzell and Gibbs donating a
healthy draft, Sneyd shot right by and
wasn't caught before the finish line. The
big mover of the race was Quenni King,
who came all the way from the ninth
row on the starting .grid to finish fifth,
putting himself in the se~ond position in .
the points standings.
