alone in third place, though, as he had Price right on his tail. Not only were the riders battling for position, but they were battling the rough track as well. jenneman finally got by Coolbeth to take the lead while the battle for third raged between Kopp and Price. Gifford was within striking distance, running all alone in fifth. When the checkered flag waved, jenneman was first, Coolbeth second, Kopp third and Price was fourth, leaving fifth to Gifford. Marty Burr showed off his riding ability by winning both the 125 and 250cc Pro classes at the Trans-Canadian National Championship in Walton. After rookie sensation Ryan Gault got the holeshot and led the first four laps of the 125cc Pro action, Burr took control and never looked back, leaving Gault to fend off a hard-charging but injured jean Sebastian Roy, who sliced through the pack from a 10th-place start before slowing only momentarily to displace riders such as Doug DaHann, Carl Vaillancourt and Marco Dubay. At the flag it was Burr, Gault and Roy. The second moto saw Roy's Honda with the holeshot and what looked like a runaway win with Burr 10 seconds back in third place. At the halfway point, however, Burr turned up the wick and displaced Chad Fleck, setting out after Roy. Within two laps, Burr closed the gap to two seconds and began to pressure Roy for the lead. Burr was clearly the faster rider as he blew past Roy in one of the "Gravity's Cavities" 4O-foot drop-offs. This gave Burr the 125cc overall win with Roy second and the rookie Gault third. Burr went on to displace Vaillancourt in both 250cc Pro motos for the overall win in that class as well. Results 50 P /W BEG: 1. Nelson Muon; 2. Nathan Fazio; 3. Andnw Nowe; 4. Adam We.ver; 5. Bobbie Crackndl Brouhard heads his class at Cambridge Short Track By TIm McBride CAMBRIDGE, MN, AUC. 26 With two of his teammates, Billy Hoffmiester and Brian lsbelI (both one-time race winners) out of action for the rest of season due to injuries, Eric Brouhard displayed the depth of IKe "Reynolds Wrecking Crew" by scoring his first Open Pro victory of the season at Cambridge Speedway. The start of the the main event saw upstart Open Pro-<:lass contender Lee "Holeshot" Fealy live up to his nickname as he led the pack into the first turn at the start of the main event. Fealy's spot in the limelight lasted for two laps before Brouhard lined him up for a pass on the front straight. With an unobscured race track in front of him, Brouhard then maintained a comfortable'margin ahead of Fealy and the rest of the field while on his way to the checkered flag. "I've always seemed to do well at this track: said the Reynolds Printing/Faribault HarleyDavidson-sponsored, Brouhard. "I guess I was due for a win." Not far behind, Wild Card entrant Tun Gregory sped to a respectable, albeit lonely third. A good dice for fourth place between the Hill brothers, Steve and Mark, went the distance. The younger sibling, Steve, eventually gained the upper hand at race's end. The start of the Vintage Twin main event looked like a repeat performance for the preliminary race winner Frank Radloff, as he was soon found out front once again. Joel Gulbranson was the man on the move, however, as he slid past joe Blackwell and reeled in Radloff on the second lap. While using the outside line, Gulbranson assumed the lead through turns three and four. But RacUoffs BSA was geared perfectly, as he resumed control on the front straight. The duo had the crowd gasping with anticipation as their side-by-side battle raged on for the rest of the race. As they approached the start/finish line for the final time, Gulbranson managed a better drive out of tum four and nipped RacUoff at the wire to score the upset. 'lJ Mike Komer on his Fantic Section upset the Expert-class riders who thought that they would have a chance to win with District 4's top rider (Ray Peters) in Colorado riding the Nationals. Komer dropped only nine points on the day. In second place was Gas Gas-mounted. George Brinkwart with 25 points. In the first section, the riders had to start over a one-fuot-diameter log into an area about one bike length long, make a l8O-degree turn back across the log into a light area with a hole about 10 inches deep, ride back over the log, some rocks and a second one-foot log, tum in a two-foot deep hole, ride out over a two-foot diameter Log and exit via a five-foot culvert. Many of the Expert Riders found that alI of the hopping required to ride the section was exhausting. Matt Hughson and Regan Faught, both on Beta Technos, fought it out for the Advanced-class win, with Hughson winning first place over Faught by a score of 66 to 85 points. Dana Guest and his Aprilia Oimber found the dry conditions to their Jlking, winning the Intermediate class over Ben Williamson, also on an Aprilia Climber, with a score of 10 points to Williams' 25 points. Bob Foringer on a Yamaha TY350 won the Senior A class with a total of 17 points over ApriLia-mounted Carl Peters who dropped a total of 31 points for the day. Section four was interesting for the Intermediate-class riders in that it started out dry and became wet and slippery from all of the riders coming out of the creek. The Novice class was won by Russell Brown on a Yamaha TY350 with 5 points. Second place went to jeffery Meeder on a Fantic Section with 11 points total. The Super Senior winner was john Knapp on a Yamaha TY250 with 21 points. Senior B winner was Robert Slater on an Aprila Oimber. Section five was a lot of fun for the Novice class as it featured two large hillclimbs with downhills to match and a tight tum to end the section. The winner of the Rookie class on a Yamaha TYSO was joshua Benjamin and the Vintage-dass winner was Owen Payne on a Yamaha TY250. Results EX: 1. Mike Komer (9); 2.
