Haag Hammers Hillside By Malcolm Wood MUSKOGEE, OK, AUG. 6 jason Haag hammered the competition in the 250cc Expert class at Hillside Raceway in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Haag, getting out of a rut on a new ride, has seemingly found new life and showed the competition the shape of things to come. Haag was impressive on what could be considered his home track, as he quickly put the rest of the field behind him in moto one. Cory Watson led briefly, but Haag was giving him all he could handle, and on lap two Haag stuffed Watson and was roosting off to the moto win. Meanwhile, Roger Sparks was making up time on the first-place battle and passed the fading Watson for the second position. Haag looking very comfortable, had extended his lead and was running away from the pack. Then, on lap five after the fin-ish-line tabletop and double jump, Haag !Tied to set up fOT the upcoming right-hander while still airborne, and the loose dirt in the sweeper was not enough traction for the Honda rider and he washed out. He grabbed the clutch and was able to keep his steed breathing, salvaging the second position as Sparks, still on the gas, motored by with only one remaining lap in moto one. '"I thought I could still save it,'" said a disgusted Haag in the pits after the first moto,"but there was more loose dirt before the berm than I thought and I just washed out." Haag had his Honda hooked up for a wire-towire victory in the second moto for the overall win. Results P/W: 1. Shawn CI"08 (KTh1); 2. OBle ~ {Yam); 3. Tunothy Cortnd (Yam).
