first-round time was enough for him to take the third place. "We went through the motor and found a few things we needed to do, put it back together and were happy to get third here today," DeBusk said. "It's been a long time coming. It's been a struggling year for us." Paul Pinsonnault, current points leader and national champion, once again showed his winning style. Utilizing only one fast ride, Pinsonnault secured his third win for the 1995 sea. son and took a two-point lead over Rick Soter, 101-99. The 800cc class started with who else but promoter Roger McNeely drawing first ride. McNeely's fellow riders rolled his Harley-Davidson against the log as he mentally prepared for his run. McNeely left the box quicklyon a good launch that turned into a 6.605-second run. His second blast on the hill proved faster with a 6.575, but not fast enough to elevate him from finishing 12th. Jimmy Dingee, also a native o£.West Virginia, put his #9 Harley on the left side of the box and got a good launch. In a frenzy, Dingee got his nitro-fed machine back to earth off the first jump, settled down and. rocketed to the top in 5.747 seconds. Dingee returned in the second round and turned up the heat with an impressive 5.651 to secure second place. "We just tried to pull a good holeshot there (and) we got one this time," said Dingee. "Got a little bit of air on the first jump and from there on it was horsepower on up the hill." Rodney Williams came to Danville hungry for a win after coming so dose with his second-place at Haydenville, Ohio. He put his beautiful Harley onto the hill in a smooth, airy ride, docking a 5.696 and then a 5.859 for his second climb. Williams accepted the third-place trophy with a smile and said, "I followed Lou (Gerencer) Jr. (and) he picked the right side of the hill - that was the smoothest part. I spun (the tire) a little ou t of the hole and I go.t too much air time off the first breaker. After that I just hammered down. It felt slow. 1 didn't think it was as good as it was." Lou Gerencer Jr. of the HarleyDavidson-backed pro team, the only rider to ca rry the torch for the injuryplagued three-~an team, popped off the log only once to set the fast time of the day in a bounce and a blast to the 280-foot marker, stopping the dock at 5.555 seconds. "We got over the first jump and just got back on the throttle and tried to keep it wide open the rest of the way," related a happy Gerencer. "(I) stayed on the ground low over the jumps and kept the power to the ground." Gerencer is now only four points behind Steve Dresser of the USA team 89 to 93. Dresser was unable to improve his first-round time and had to settle for fifth. fX Boone County Danville, West Virginia Results.: August 13, 1995 540: 1. Paul Pinsonnaull (Han); 2.
