(Right) Emesto Fonseca, from Costa Rica, found success In the 85cc (9-13) class. "The track was a whole lot better that time after all that mud. 1 love the mud and slop and all, but the second moto was nice and dry." Young James Stewart Jr. proved his versatility by jumping up to an 80 and going 2-3 for second overall here. Canadian Suzuki rider Derrick Fisher finished third. Pastrana was not as fortunate in the 85cc (9-13) Modified class. In the first moto, he was defeated by Loretta Lynn's debutant Ernesto Fonseco of Costa Rica and his Yamaha teammate Justin Buckelew. In the second race a jammed gearbox stopped him before the finish line. "1 passed Buckelew for the lead on the first lap and 1 was starting to pull away when 1 wrecked," said Pastrana. '1 caught back up to Buckelew, but he splashed me and Emesto got by, then 1 just wrecked on my own again. Mr. Windham was watching me and he said my big feet got in the way." Out front was the domain of the eyeopening Fonseco, who pushed back all of the Loretta Lynn's minibike vets in his class with a perfect 1-1 score. The Latin American became just the second foreign rider to win a class championship in Loretta Lynn's 14-year history. Fonseca almost lost the title when it was discovered that he had what the BSY guys called "gearing problems" (a cracked hub) on the parade lap. A furious rear wheel change took place as the two- (Above) Shaun Perollo went two-for-two. He was unbeat8ble In the 125 and 250cc A Stock classes. Buckelew finished second with a 2-2 score, while Hondamounted Paul Carpenter of Ohio was third with a 7-4 showing. Buckelew was defeated by Fonseco in the (9-13) Modified class, but the popular New Mexico minibiker came roaring back to win the 85cc Stock (12-13) class over Kawasaki riders Matt Walker, Eric Williams and Jeremy Brown. Buckelew went 1-1 to better Walker's 2-2, Williams' 5-4 and Brown's 4-8. The final race of the week was the SuperMini class, which is pretty much the domain of the Kawasakis. It was no surprise that a very determined Shae Bentley came out on top of both motos. However, Fonseca's big-wheeled but under-powered Yamaha YZ 80 occupied second at the end of both motos. "1 pushed it until I couldn't push it anymore, then 1 backed off," said Bentley, who also won a title here in 1993. "1 didn't earn my last title but 1 sure earned this one. I worked hard and 1 had a lot of help, and if it wasn't for them 1 wouldn't be here." Finishing third was Kawasaki-mounted Travis Riley. fN Lorette Lynn Ranch Hurricane Mills, Tennessee Results: August 8-2, 1995 125 A STK: 1. Shaun Perotic (Kaw); 2. Joshua Sweat (Kaw); 3.
