111e Physical Force of Energy "Scott was ahead of me," Springsteen said. "But Pegram fell off in front of us. Scott went outside to miss him, and I went inside him and stayed on the rubber." Camtin fell almost simultaneously with his teammate Pegram - but in tums one and two - after losing his brakes completely.. After celebrating on the podium, Atherton explained why he checked his normal aggression in favor of the precision he had promised at the beginning of the season. "I couldn't (be aggressive) because there was a real fine line on the groove." Atherton said. "You had to pace yourself. You had to roll on the throttle, and you couldn't steer it real quick." With the success gleaned from the relapse to his kinder, gentler personality, a few questions remain: Who will show up next week as the series moves on to Goshen, Indiana? Is "Mr. Excitement" dead? Has he been replaced by "Mr. Niceguy?" Atherton side-stepped the issue, but he may have provided a clue. "When I passed Davey out there at the end, I almost felt bad," Atherton said afterward. "But not quite." (~ ~ ~OSIHIIIMUAA • SUZUKI Fred Merkel uses the Physical Force of Energy to win his fifth consecutive AMA 750 supersport class victory at Gateway Int'l Raceway near st.
