• many of the classes were needed as well. The Ralph and Carolyn Huffman-promoted event ran smoothly, but was marred by the passing of Vet Noviceclass rider Gary Taber. The popular Kennewick. Wasrungton. rider suffered a heart attack shortly after completing his first moto. A memorial lap was taken for Taber at the following day's National Hughes snared the holeshot at the start of the first 12Sec Pro moto and was never headed as he roosted away from the rest. Marvin Waldo, David Myers and Dave Lahn battled over the runnerup position throughout the early laps, but Waldo eventually gained control of the spot. Myers ended up second, ahead ofLahn. "I thought I'd come out and get some extra practice in," said Hughes. "['m not going to ride the second moto - I don't want to wear myself out for.tomorrow." With Hughes absent, Waldo had his way with the field in the second moto, running away with the win ahead of Myers and Rafael Ramos. Waldo also returned in the Vet Pro class and scored the overall win with a pair of perfect motos. Second overall went to 1981 SOOcc National Champion Chuck Sun, who piloted a KTM 250SX. Formerly associated with Husaberg, Sun recently took a position with KTM Sportrnotorcyc1e recently and was getting acquainted with the unfamiliar two-stroke. Still, Sun posted 2-3 moto scores, good.enough to edge out th.irdplaced Mike Johnson's 6-2 scores. The Old Timer Expert class feU to Smith Goggles' Randy Van Dyke. The Yamaha YZ250 rider couldn't fend off the relentless charges of Enzo Racing's Ross Maeda in the opening moto, and was forced to settle for second behind the Kawasaki KXl25 rider. Rory' Berg was a distant third ahead of Robert Hansen. Things changed in moto two, however. Van Dyke was able to motor away from the field early on, while Hansen and. Berg managed to fend of Maeda, who was at a disadvantage aboard his smaller machine. Van Dyke greeted the checkered flag with a comfortable margin of victory, and his 2-1 scores edged out Maeda's 2-4. Kurt Cannon swept both motos in the Vet Junior Division Three race. Cannon came from behind in the opening moto, overtaking leader Rob Healy of N-Style late'in the race, but romped away with a !!Olid win in moto two. Dan Castro was rewarded for his consistent 2-3 finishes with second overall, while Healy took third overall with 2-4 scores. Emily Norton roosted the Women's class with a pair of wins aboard her Yamaha YZl25. Suzuki-mounted Karri Nash was a distant second in both motos, while Cindy Bartles rounded out the top three. Ben Shank won the 250cc intermediate Division Three class with a pair of moto wins, but his victory was hard earned as Pit Pro's Colin Couto dogged him throughout both races. Couto came home second in both motos for second overall, while Mike Hodges rounded out the top three with 4-5 scores. ex World Superbike Championship , Laguna Seca Raceway 1995 Visit the nearest Cycle Gear location or call 1-800-783-2950 to order World . . . .=- ..... venirs Icomplete catalog available). 10111 '''Elllff Washougal MX Park Washougal, Washington Results: August 4-5, 1995 Friday 80 BEC DIV 1: 1.
