In the initial 125cc Pro mota it was crowd favorite Cooper with the holeshot with fellow F&S rider Davey Yezek right alongside heading up to the spectator area. As the lead duo flew past the scoring tower, Yezek put a nice move on the inside of Cooper to grab the lead, while Mike Treadwell ran third with Joshua Steel in fourth. Cooper put on quite a show trying to catch the smooth-riding Yezek, but the Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, native was too fast for Cooper and motored on to the win. Behind Cooper in third was Treadwell, with Steel in fourth and Chuck Reed finishing fifth. In between.motos a great splashing of liquid sunshine graced the loamy track, leaving the circuit fairly greasy for moto two. Cooper saw the slick track as an advantage as he nailed down the second-moto start with team members Treadwell and Jeromy Buehl in tow. Yezek had an unfortunate start and would have to force his way through the pack to eventually finish second, with Treadwell, Steel and Reed in that order behind him. Even though traction was at a minimum during the second mota, Cooper refused to back off the throttle as he handily cleared gnarly doubles that· most others were not attempting. Cooper even managed to whip a little "nac-nac" in for the adoring crowd at the checkers. "Davey's tough to beat right now, but I'm not bad in the mud," remarked an obviously elated Cooper. Cooper forgot tei bring a 250 to the Treaty Oty track, but teammate Yezek picked up the slack as he conquered both motos after fighting off the advances of Steel, Buehl, Treadwell and Reed in the 250cc Pro class. Poccorobba pounces at MDA Motocross/Auction By Kyle Myers REDDICK, FL, JULY 9 Over 220 riders attended the fourth annual race for the Muscular Dystrophy Association held at Motocross of Marion County where Anthony Pocorobba copped top laurels in the 125cc A class. In the first 125cc Pro moto Pocorobba grabbed the early lead with Brian Manley, Anthony Paggop, Jason Dodds and John Fesler giving chase. Manley quickly pressured Pocorobba and moved by on the opening lap. MeanwhiJe, Paggio fell and remounted last. Pocorobba was glued to Manley's rear wheel for the entire eight laps until Pocorobba slid out in a comer. Manley held on for the moto win ahead of Pocorobba. Paggio worked his way back through the field to finish third, and Dodds and Fesler rounded out the top five. Paggio rocketed into the point position to start moto two with Pocorobba, Manley, Dodds and Fesler following. Paggio led for two laps, before Pocorobba and Manley slipped by. PocoIObba and Manley battled for the lead, while Paggio fell but quickly remounted without losing a position. With three laps to go, Manley made a costly bobble that would let the Barnett/Bieffe/No-Limit/Velvetouch-backed Pocorobba the win the moto and overall. Manley finished in the runner-up spot with Paggio, Dodds and Fesler rounding out the top five places. Manley came back later and won the 250cc Pro division. Pocorobba and Brian Manley were the Proclass winners, but the big winner on this day was the MDA. With former 2S0cc Supercross, 250cc Outdoor National and two-time 500cc National Champion David Bailey on hand to sign autographs and the auctioning of official autographed racewear from the pros, $4200 was raised with all proceeds going to the MDA. Ashley Doucet was in attendance for the fourth year, giving the checkered flag for one of the races. A Mike Kiedrowski jersey sold for the most money at $225. Results P/W (4-6): 1. George Lamonte had an up-and-down day in the 125cc Beginner class, literally. The first moto saw Lamonte crash and burn three different times and still rebound for third behind Justin Cass and Mike Wilson. In the second moto, Lamonte appea.red to ride in a more reserved and consistent fashion, and he was rewarded with the moto and overall wins. R....1ts PM: 1. Mike Alessi (KTM); 2.
