Isbell aces Cambridge ST By Tim McBride 'CAMBRIDGE, MN, JUNE 24 It was pure coincidence that the Cambridge Speedway held a race on the same weekend that Brian Isbell was in town on other business. After borrowing a bike, Isbell made his intentions dear by finishing a close second place to Billy Hoffmiester in the 600cc heat race. Isbell pulled a perfect holeshot at the start of the feature and was never headed. Although Hoffmiester monitored Isbell's position c.losely throughout the race, his wait for mistakes from Isbell was in vain. Isbell scored the win with Hoffmiester, Verdeen Langland, Randy Triplett and Dan Zitur filling out the top five positions respectively. It took a few races for Lee Fealy to get up to speed, but he scored a wire-to·wire victory ahead of perennial front-runners Dave Jenkins and Steve Hill in the Open Bclass. The 80cc class had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Verlon Langland was out front until Adam Henrichs caught the race leader on the third lap. Henrichs saw his chanees of victory dashed, however, when he crashed on the last lap. Henrichs' misfortune allowed Langland to score his second win of the season. Results MINI/R: 1. F.ARJ8AULT, MN, JUNE 25 The multi-class winner department ranged from A to Z in the Faribault Pro-Am at the Rice County Fairgrounds, with Buzz Arndt and Tim Zemanovic each scoring double-class victories on the quarter-mile oval. Shortly after the start of the 50+ class main event, a crash involving John Sutherlin and Bob Reynolds stopped the race. At the restart, Arndt quickly assumed the lead and was chased closely throughout the race by Gary Brennen and Fred Pettis. The trio finished in that order, a distance ahead of the battle for fourth between Steve Boggs, Sutherlin and Reynolds. After suffering a bad star! in the 40+ class, Arndt passed Chuck Beving and Sutherli.n on the second lap. Arndt proceeded to the checkered flag unchallenged. Sutherlin finished a solid second place while Reynolds slid by Beving to garner third position. Tim Zemanovic had his hands full during ....
