Box 1675, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92693. GIeck! is survived by his wife, Maria, and their two children, Amy, who is 18 months old, and Anthony, 5. Hot off the rumor mill: Two-time Western Regional 125cc National Champion and current 125cc National Championship Series point leader Damon Huffman is rumored to have signed with Kawasaki for the 1996 season. Team Honda/l-800-Col1ect/Fox had been actively pursuing Huffman, but was foiled by the Californian's two-year clothing contract with Axo Sport, which runs through the '96 season. And speaking of Honda, the Red Riders are rumored to be returning to minibike competition. With the introduction of the all-new 1996 Honda CRBO and CRBO Expert, such a move was expected from the company, but initially denied when the new bikes were introduced. For now, hearsay has Southern Californians Danny Carlson and Bryan McGavran on the team, which may appear as early as this year's NMA World MX Finals at Ponca City. Team Suzuki Off-Road's Rodney Smith, Randy Hawkins, Steve Hatch and Guy Cooper are yet undecided as to whether or not they'll compete in this year's International Six Days Enduro in Poland, September 18-23. Although all riders are eligible to represent the U.S. on the six-rider World Trophy team, cutbacks at Suzuki have left Smith, Hawkins, Hatch and Cooper pretty much on their own if they want to compete in the Polish Six Days. Suzuki told their riders they'd be given $1000 each and that would be it, as compared to last year when Suzuki's spent approximately $15,000 on their entire IS DE effort in TuISa. "After last year's fiasco, we just felt we'd be better off spending the money here in the U.S. (to compete in the National off-road series events):' said Mike Webb, manager of Team Suzuki Off-Road. "Cutbacks, the value of the yen, and other things are just making it harder (to race) every year. The money just isn't there anymore. And last year (Tulsa ISDE) didn't help any, either. Basically, it's up to them (Smith, Hawkins, Hatch and Cooper) if they want to compete." '1'11 be honest, I haven't thought about it a whole lot," said Suzuki's Steve Hatch as to whether or not he'll ride the Polish Six Days. "We're all getting together next week and we'll probably decided then. It kind of depends what everybody else is going to do. If we have to pay for it out of our own pockets, then we want to make sure we can win." As far as "everybody else:' one of the people Hatch was indirectly referring to was Kawasaki's Ty Davis who has already said a long time ago that he isn't going to Poland. "If we decide not to compete on the Trophy team:' said Hatch, "then we (Hawkins, Smith and Hatch) might go all out and try to win a Club division. That would be good exposure, and, this would give other people a chance to ride on the Trophy team. But for now, we're not sure what we're going to do." third and fourth, respectively, are Tallon Vohland and Kurt Nicoll. Vohland currently has 239 points and Nicoll 234. The World Championship 250cc MX Series - round 10 - resumes July 16 at ·the Venezuelan GP. In further FIM news, FIM President Jan Vas sen confirmed that the British Speedway Grand Prix will be moved to the all-new Hackney Stadium, near the center of the capital city of London. Rider revolt over the past few weeks has forced the British promoters to stage the final GP round away from its original location at Arena Essex, because some riders feared the tight comers in such a fierce competition could cause many accidents. At least one rider, American Billy Hamill, was reportedly disappointed to learn of the move. Budget cuts has also taken its toll on the Irish Trophy team. It looks as though Ireland will not be represented in Poland for the Six Days. Financial disagreements with the Irish governing body and the team's manager Winston Buchanan, who has since resigned, has led to the team's unofficial withdrawal. The Irish Trophy Team finished second two years ago at the Dutch ISDB. National motocross will return to Southern California in 1996. The AMA has added Glen Helen Raceway, in San Bernardino, California, to its 1996 AMA National Championship MX Series calendar. Unlike previous Nationals held ~t Glen Helen when the event was run in the heat of mid-summer, the '96 Glen Helen National will take place earlier in the year in the cooler month of may. As of now, the National is scheduled for May 12, and with the addition of the Glen Helen round, the series will consistent of 13 rounds instead of the usual 12. HRP Products has filed civil action with the U.S. District Court for the district of New Hampshire against Tucker Rocky Distributing. HRP's complaint alleges that HRP has been selling it's trademarked chest protectors to Tucker Rocky since 1989, but recently, Tucker Rocky has began purchasing from another manufacturer chest protectors that are slavish copies of HRP's product, and are reselling them under the same trademarks as those manufactured by HRP. HRP claims trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, false designation of origin and unfair business practices. Team Obsolete will be pairing road racing greats with historic vintage machinery for AMA Vintage Days at Mid-0hio Sports Car Course July 21-23. The AMA Heritage Foundation Banquet will take place Friday, and multi-time 250cc World Champion road racer Jim Redman will be the guest speaker. Midday Saturday and Sunday, Redman will take to the track aboard a 1964 Honda 250cc six-eylinder GP bike during Team Obsolete's exhibition for historic Grand Prix ~acing bikes. Also included in the parade laps will be three MV Agustas from the late-60s and early-70s. Past racers slated to appear are Don Emde, Don Vesco, Dave Aldana, Gary Nixon and Yvon DuHat;nel. The FIM Appeals Tribunal has reinstated Belgian Marnicq Bervoets in the results of the first moto of the April 9 Dutch MX 250 GP and Swede Joakim Karlsson in the second moto of the March 26 Spanish GP. The decision was based solely on a road racing precedent that riders in violation of fuel regulations were only disqualified from the race before which the sample was taken; Bervoets was tested before his non-scoring heat two ride and Karlsson before the Spanish opener. The revised 250cc World Championship standings has Bervoets moving up from fourth to second, 39 points behind series leader Stefan Everts, 280-241.
