Walker handles
Road Atlanta Motocross
By Barbara Williams.
BRASEl.TON, GA, JUNE 24
Yamaha of Kingsport-backed Kevin Walker vis-
ited the brand-new Road Atlanta MX track and
took home $1100 for his four-moto sweep of the
125 and 2SOcx: A classes.
"l should have been here for the first two
races," joked Walker. "But you can bet I'll be
back."
Over 200 riders came to Road Atlanta MX, to
compete for the guaranteed S3000 A-class purse,
plus amateur trophies.
Walker's first start, in 12See A moto one, was
cautious owing to the fact that this was his first
race on the RAMX track. Walker allowed
Christopher Bailey to take the point position
early, but after the first few laps, Walker was
confident enough to take over the lead and
stretch out a lQ-second advantage on his way to
the first of four moto wins. Bailey battled
Dwayne Bone, Adam Humphrey and David
Dishman for the rest of the first outing. Bone
crowded Bailey constantly until late in the race,
when he forced an opening and slipped into seeond, leaving Bailey to battle with Humphrey for
third. A lap later, Hiunphrey also went past Bailey, dropping him to an unwelcome fourth and
leaving Dishman to cross the line in fifth.
In the second 12Scc A moto, Walker left no
doubt about just who was in charge as he leaped
to the front at the start and never looked back.

MAYFLOWER. All. JUNE 18
Vincent Davis was the man to beat as he took
the overall win at the Arkansas Dirt Riders-hosted seventh round of the Black Jack Enduro Circuit, the Davis Lake Enduro.
The terrain consisted of 34 ground miles run
at a straight IS-mph average on virgin terrain,
with long sections that took points from all the
AA riders. There were just two resets on the
entire loop.
Steve Leivan led the AA riders at the end of
the first loop with a one-point advantage over
DaVis - a 1994 ISDE Junior Team rider, The second loop was a repeat of loop one with the
speeds bumped up to 24 mph and one reset
removed, creating a 24-miJe test section. Davis
took charge during this loop on his Moose Racing/ Pirelli/ Pro-Action Suspension/ Scotti
Davis Cycles/ Mike's Machine-backed CR250,
losing two fewer points than Leivan, and ending
the day with 2B points dropped to take the win.
Leivan dropped 29 points for second place.
Steve Travis, another '94 ISDE rider and the current BJEC points leader, struggled with slower
riders finishing the day with a 35. Jeff Plunkett,
the 1992 BJEC Champion, came back from a oneyear layoff due to a broken leg to easily take the
A honors, and third overall.

Chapman conquers
Mosier Valley Motocross
By Chris Boice
ARLINGTON, TX, JUNE 23
Jason Chapman came away victorious from
week three of Mosier Valley's Night Flight SummerScries.
Chapman took home the top honors in the
250cc Beginner class. Honda-mounted Scott
Robertson roosted his way into the early lead at
the start of the first mota pursued by Chapman
and Jay Bayles. Robertson took advantage of the
clear track conditions and spread hjs lead out
early to a comfortable margin. The battle for second materialized. into what would be a great
race to the checkered flag. Chapman was able to
keep himself in the runner-up position but not
without some defensive-riding tactics. Bayles
was right on Chapman's rear fender for the
entire five laps but was unable to make his pass
attempts stick. He pulled along side of Chapman several times but Chapman shut the door
and kept second place. At the finish line it was
Robertson way out in front, followed by Chapman and Bayles.
Mota two of the 250cc Beginner class sa w
Chapman grab the holeshot. Oose behind were
Randy Malone and Bryan Petton. Chapman
immediately stretched his lead to 10 bike lengths
and appeared as though he would get away.
Runner-up Malone had a different plan however. He pulled away from Pelion and was closing
in on Chapman for the lead by the third lap.
Malone's opportunity to take the lead came on
the next lap when Chapman backed off the
throllie through the stadium whoops. Malone
pulled alongside of Chapman over the next set
of double jumps but landed too nose-down to
make the pass stick. Just two corners later, however, Malone again held the throttle wide open
and tangled handlebars in midair with Chapman over a plateau jump. Malone got the bad
end of the exchange and crashed hard. He later
remounted to finish in sixth place.
With Chapman now way out in front, the
battle raged on for second place. Pelion, Bayles
and Robertson were all in a position to take the
runner-up spot in the mota. The trio kept the
spectators on their feet until the finish line.
