By Jay and Sharo n Hauser
AXTON, VA. jUNE4
Sha ne Templeton came to Lake Sugar Tree wi th
hopes of a strong ride after a two-mon th layoff
due to a broken foot. Tem pleton's hopes pa nned
out a nd he took the overall victory in the premier 250 A class via a stro ng pair of ru nn er-up
fmishes on a course that was in perfect condition.
Though it was th e facility's season-opening
race for 1995, the event served as the last round
of the successful Ll.S. Eastern Pro-Am Motocross

self in a heated late-moto ballle.
McWhorter cruised past the checkers for the
win while Eastwood and Shipley bo th encounte red a quick slip-up in t he la te stages that
allowed Temple to n to ho ld down the second
spo t. Sh ip ley .took advantage of Eastwood ' s
slide in the ha irp in to car d third . William Finch
was fifth .
In t h e second moto McWhorter aga in
nabbed the holeshot and led the first two laps .
Eastwood. gated a strong second a nd never let
McWhorter get too far away. so when McWhorter bobbled, Eastwood went by for the lead and
took Templeton with him .
Ship ley a lmos t Inad e it by too, but McWhort er go t go in g jus t in time to shut th e door on
Ship ley 's pass .
(Above) Rob McWhorter (1) and Mike
Eastwood (570) each scored a moto win In
250 A racing at Lake Sugar Tree , but It
was Shane Templeton (929) who came up
with the ov erall win via 2-2 moto scores.
