Read 's Racing event held at the Fulton County
Fairgrounds.
Read 's Racing used the event to get the race
facili ty dialed in for the State Championship
even t to be held over the Labor Day Weekend at
the Fulton County Fairgrounds. The track was
lengthened at the south side and they will util ize
the interior part of the lrack as well
Automatic 4-6-year-olds saw Ride Davis on
his KIM grab the hoJeshot over Dian Klinger on
her Yamaha PW 50. Davis held on to the number-<>ne spot despite pressure from Klinger on
the second lap as they went over the series of
rockers side-by-side. Davis turned up the throt tle a notch, increasing his lead to the finish .
Klinger on her Read's Racing/Dad-tuned PW
carded second.
Davis pulled the holeshot for the second
mot o and was never challenged. In his second
yea r of Au tomatic competition he showed that
his slcills are being refined, riding mistaJce.free
for the entire second mota. Klinger took the runner-up slot, good for second overall.

Aeming finishes first
at CRC Night Motocross

motocross season open er at Los Angeles County
Raceway sa w Eric Fleming and Harold Smi th
each win a Vet Novice moto with Aeming coming ou t on top in the sec ond m otu to nab the
overall honors.
Smi th got an unbeli ev able drive ou t of the
ga le in m_ on e to lead Don Dem yan , Flemin g
an d John Alexander. With only half a lap complet e, Smith had a fou r-second advantag e over
Demyan, who had his hands full with Fleming.
A la p later, Flem in g got a ro u n d Demyan to
move up to second place and set out a fter Smi th .
As the rema in ing laps dw in dl ed, so di d
Smith's lead. When th e white fla g ca m e out,
Fleming was close enough to give Smith a pat on
the back. The final circuit was a two-rider da sh
to the checkers with Smith hol ding off Fleming
by a bike len gth. Etha n Selzer put in a fantastic
effort, coming from nearly last off the start to
pass Demyan for thin! on the fina l lap. '
Moto two saw Alexander pull the holes hot
. with Demyan, Fleming and Smith in tow . Fleming followe d De myan fo r a lill k ove r a lap
before making his move down a whoo p -filled
slraigh t to take control of the runner-up position
on the following lap. Down the same whoopfi11ed straight. Flemi ng shot past Alexander an d
into the top spot where he would sta y for th e
rema inder of the race.
"I' m a littl e better through the whoop-deedoo hard sluff than I am on the bigger jumps,"
said Fleming after his seco nd -moto win. "1 just
wa nt to thank Jeff a nd Joel Harriott at Thousand
Oaks Yamaha for all the help ."
Demyan a lso got around Alexander and
sta rt ed closing in on Flemi ng in th e last two
laps, but lappers prevented him from ma king a
serious charge and he had to settle for second at
the checkers. Smith was ru nni ng a close fourth
before having his front end wash ou t and going
down a t th e mi d way point. Smith got going
again a nd got a bre a k la ter w hen Alexander
stalled in 'a tum a nd co u ld n 't ge t restarted
be fore Smi th sli p p e d -past for third p la c e.
Smi th 's 1-3 finis hes topped Dem yan 's 4-2 score
for second overall.

John Clerk captured bo th Light and Heavy flat
track main events at Bear Creek Speedway with
las t-lap moves, us ing the cus hio n and his kn obby lires to his ad vanta ge.
Jam es Reed led brother Dan thro ugh most of
the hea vy feature with Oark slip-sliding away in
the loose cushion. James Reed increased his lead
over Dan Reed, bu t Clark continued to hammer'
away up high . Clar k was able to outrun Reed to
the halfway point of the strai ghts. and tha t is all
he needed to out-drag Reed to the finish.
In Lightweight class action, Dan Reed pulled
th e holesh ot an d p romptly moved to th e hi gh
groove- rig ht where Cla rk had been passing in
hea t race actio n. On th e final lap , Reed moved
down to territory mo re comfortable to him ..and
Cla rk took adva ntage of th e clea r cus hio n to
take the win .
In Sp eedwa y action . Sobe k Mu synski was
the class of the field as he went undefeated in
heat race action and topped brother Bogde n in
the Scratch main event.
Robert Bitt, Matt Otto a n d Pat Re yn olds
ro und ed out the main event.
As us ual , the Handicap main even t proved to
be the most excitin g of the night with the top 10
rid ers invert ed 10 yards apart and going 8 laps.
John Massie looked in sp ired afte r topping the
consi and wa tching his son win the youth race.
The heavily handi cap ped Musynskis, Otto and
Reynold s start ed cha rging through the field as
soo n as the ligh t flashed gree n. Bogden Musyns ki wa s hold ing off Sobek Mu synsk i but had a
quarter-track to mak e up as he moved in to sec:ond with k... than two laps to go. Massie started
looking sq ui rr ely as his back lir e lost air p ressu re, but he had the lead and was not givin g up.
Both Musynski s we re closing fast with one
la pp ed rid er to ge t a rou nd . Th e Mu sy nski' s
went arou nd th e lap pe r on both sides in turn
fo u r a nd tri ed to s tretc h t he sa me mo ve to
Mass ie at the finish lin e. It wa s nearly a threeway tie as Mass ie crossed first with his tire coming off the rim and Bogden Musynski bealing
his b ig brother to th e line for seco nd .
