JUNEII Approxima te ly 200 rid er s co mpeted in round two of the Yamaha Dea ler Series a t Glen Helen Raceway, with Eric Hanks taking the overall win in the 125cc Beginner division. Hanks was onc of the lucky ones who made it through the first tum pile up at the beginning of m oto one. It was Matt Filkins with the holeshot, followed by Nephi Dcmmar, and Joel Nelson. Dummar led on the step-up jump before the completion of LJpone. Dummar started to pull away from his competitors during lap two wh ile Filkins wen t down on the back portion of the course. That moved Nelson up to seco nd followed by Brian Morgan. Ta rek Saba a nd Ha nks. Hanks made a move a ro und Morgan as they made thei r way around lapped tra ffic and was not yet done as he spe nt the remain ing laps trying to find a way around Nelso n . O n the fina l lap. Hanks went to the ins ide o f a tu rn and was in second for a brie f m om e nt , but Nelson prevailed with a better drive. Du m mar too k the win wit h Nelso n . Hanks, Morgan, and Jay Schreffler rounding off the top five. Filki ns was o ut in fron t again in moto two with Morga n, Stephen Ne lson, Hanks, and Jeff Peav ler right be hind as they carne through the scoring sectio n. Hanks used his leapi ng ab ilities to get aro und Nelson at the "Sky" jump on the first lap . Filkins and Hanks started to pu ll away from the rest of the pack as Mo rgan fell down on ba ck se c t io n . Filkins had a litt le da ylight betwee n himself a n d Hanks going in to th e whoop secti o n, but Hanks ca ught and pa ssed Filkins at the step -u p jump. There was a tigh t battle for third between Peavler, Nelso n. an d Nicholas Waters. wh o used the supe rcrcss sty le wh oop section to get by Nelson then darted underneath Peavler going into the whoop section on the next lap. Joel Nelso n sta rted to fall off the pace when Dummar and Step hen Nelson went by for fourth and fifth. The Yama ha of Redlands-sponsored Hanks took the checkered flag firs t, with Filkins second . T he n it was Waters next, fighting off a bard-charging Dummar.
