:V IC S. O E Continued from page4 As you well know by know, there was a problem with the lights. Fine, nobody's fault. I was not on the field , but from my seats, which were as close to the field as you could get, the 10% lighting was better than mo st cloudy days in the dese rt. . Some riders were sent out to test the track and confer with the AMA officials about the track conditions. Well, it turns out th a t Team Honda decided it was unsafe. Funny, I didn't actually see any of their riders out there to test the track and let the tea m managers know . We went to the pits and asked the Honda tea m what was up, and got some interes ting responses. Like, "The title was wrapped up, and we didn't need to race." Stra nge, why even show up? Why didn 't he (McGrath) race? Why didn't he test the track out? His official quote was, "So rry guys, it was a team decision, it just isn' t safe." How safe was the race in the rain? I a m g lad I didn't bring my young so n a ll the way to Vegas to be d isappointed . All the people invo lved in supercross better get their acts together, or there will be none left. Oh yeah, Jerem y, sorry about all the trouble in the pits, I know you know what a 25D-mile drive followed by sit ting in the blazing heat for hours can do to people. Kevin Smyth Whittier, CA I d rov e five hou rs to see the final event o f the season. I was looking forward to a gr eat ba ttle for seco nd place between (La rry) Ward and (Mike) Kiedrowsk i. I commend Te am No le e n/ Si z z le r / Xtreme /Yamaha , Suzuki, KTM and all the privateers w ho rod e their butts off dur ing th e 25 0cc main . Those who showed up to th e 250 ma in should be applauded for d oing what the pa yin g crowd came to see . Those who did no t s ho w up, or whoever made the decision not to sh ow up , should th ink about filling out a n a p p lica tio ns a t McDonalds. Nick Kelbau gh San Diego, CA We know the power outage was not the race promoter's fault, but they should not have run the mains at all even with the temporary lights. We support Team Honda's and Team Kawasaki's decision 100% not to race in the 250 cc main un der the dim lighting conditions. We went over to the Honda pits to tell them they made a good decision not to race. At th a t point this drunk...walks up screaming, "...(expletive) you, Honda, I'm selling my bike and I'm no t supporting you anymore," and so on -, Well, dude...maybe you should take up lawn bowling. Put yourself in the Pro's boots and jump some triples when you can't see the track clearly. I don't think you would do it either.
