Pappalardo was deemed the cause and sent to the pen alty line. On the resta rt, Venegas pulled off anot her kamakaze move tha t put him out in front and gone. Mike Dalby held on to the second for one lap before Don Od om, Lucero and McConn ell all got by. Odom went on the defensive, kept his li ne and colle cted the second. Lucero, lookin g stronger every week, kept the door closed on McConnell for third . Brandon Duntsch used a good start to sneak in behind Bums, followed by Fishe r, Jimmy Howard a n d Dylan Blackwell. Fisher doubled past Duntsch and pu t his Suz uki right o n th e rea r fend er of Burns. Howard, meanwhile ha d slip ped by Duntsch for third. Bums and Fisher steadily pul led away from the rest o f th e pac k as their battle seemed to br in g out t he best in both rid ers. Bur ns w as imp ressive in his efforts to hold off Fisher as the Suzuki pilot used everything in his bag of tricks to try an d ge t by. Blackwell managed to ge t around Howard to take over third spo t bu t was well back of the lead ers. With laps winding d own th e exci te men t gre w as eve ryone expected Bums to falter under the relent less pressure from Fish er , who too k div es at Bums in every comer. But Burns rode /lawless ly and held on to take the win followed b y Fisher, Bla ckwell, H ow a rd and Duntsch rounding out the top five. Lee Pounders set the pace for the weekend, con tin u ing to win in his come back seaso n by tak in g a co nvinci ng flag-to-flag -w in in th e Expert Solo GTU race. Pounders also took wins in Sun day's Mid d leweig ht and lightweight GP even ts. Jamie Bowman ran flag-to-flag to win GTO bu t only after pu ttin g away fast local Bill Zearley. Steve Grigg copied Bowman in the Amateur GTO event on his strong running ZX7R, repeating in the Heavyweight Su perbike battl e. KWS Motorspo rts ride r Gen e Church continued to defend his Unlimited Supersport Champio nsh ip with a win ove r teammate Kevin Hunt. Church leads in points and is seemingly unb eatable on his CBR900RR Com bined classes always give ho t ama teurs a cha nce to shine, a nd thi s wee kend hosted a Lightweight Supe rbi ke battl e worth watching. Sam Flem ing blasted off the line never looking back - until it was too late. Fleming rode better than he ever has at Roeb ling and so di d Amate u r fro nt-ru nne r Matthew Richa rds o n, wh o closed it up on the last lap after a heroic run on the outsi de of Fleming at tum nine. He draft ed to the line, jumping out to take the overa ll win by inches.
