Lag una Seca Raceway has announced that ticket sales for this summer's World Superbike Series round are up 30 percent from the 1994 Ll.S, Grand Prix ticket sales. 'The word has spread that fans wiII not be able to bu y p addock access at th e event, so they are ordering in advance," said Scott Atherton, the track manager at Laguna. 'The World Superbike organizer has given us a limited number of pad dock-access tickets. At the current pace, it is feasible that we wiII sell out of all paddock-access tickets before July 1." Co nt rary to rumors that the track was covered in sno w, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area' s Debbie Chapman reports that the famo us -mo tocross tra ck in Mammoth Lakes, California, is in ideal condition . The ann ua l races will be held June , 22-25. In addition, several new twists will greet this year's racers. Glen Helen Sp eed w ay promoter Jim Fishback has op ted to move his speedway and m otorcy cle racing program from Wednesday nights to Friday nights starting on June 23, placing the program in d ir ect co m petition with Cost a Mesa Speedway, which has bee n ru nning its speed w ay program on F ri day nights si nce 1969. "We h aven't been able to dra w the crow d neces sary to turn a profit on Friday nights," Fishback said . "And I believe th at there are enou gh riders available to present our races on .th e sa me night as Costa Mesa Speedway. We ha ve up-and-coming stars, like Rick Pearce of Bakers fi eld , d r i vi n g down every week. Mo ving to Frida y nig hts wiII make it much easier on riders such as Pearce and the fans who won' t have to answer an alarm clock on Saturday morning."
