"It's rare that I feel better on my 600

"During the firs t part of the race I was
riding very tense. I wasn' t quite comfortable, and I knew th a t w hen Hale
smells blood, he attacks."
Mea nwhile, the battle for third raged
on, and Crevier, Pegra m and Wilson
traded positions rep eatedly. Pegram put
his dirt track ex perience to good use,
time, it was Wilson w ho emerged the
dominant force in the battl e for thi rd .
"I was faster in the infield sections of
the track," said Wilso n. "Turns five, six,
and seven were good for me. The tighter
sections were where I was faster. It was
a clean race. There was a lot of passin g,
but not a lot of contact."
.
Like Wilson , DuHamel br oke free of
his pursu er in the final laps and en joyed
a slight lead over Hale at the finish line.
"With a few la ps to go I went into
tum one rea l d eep and mis sed m y las t
downshift," said Ha le . "Then I was
stuck doing the MX clu tch technique out
of the comer. Then I put my head d own
and d ip p ed into the 20s, but that one
mistake killed my shot at the win."
Wilson came home three seconds
after Hale, and Pegram and Crevier followed shortly thereafter. Erion Racing 's

"The break changed th e race stra tegy," said Wilson . "The new tires were a
