Red man pressured throughout both mot os but unlortunately crashed the Honda in the first leavin g Harrington the win. Harrington was by far th e dominant rid er in the seco nd moto. john Hopkins sho wed up read y to race and swept all four mot os in the Super Mini and SO Stock Novi ce classes . Billy Laninovich fin ished seco nd for the d a y in both classes aft er a 4-2 pla cing in the Stock Novice and 2-2 finish in the Super Mini class . Giotan Pierc e wa s the young man wi th the plan in the Junior divi sion . Pierce rod e for a 2-1 finish in the junior Stock 9-11 overall spo t, then returned in the 80 Mod ified 9-11 lor overall hon ors there, as well. . Pierce ran his Mod bike wit h the Stock 9-11 riders and he and winner Antho ny Bruscella put on a good seco nd -moto show. Schellinger powers to Pueblo Road Race win By Tim Wolf PUEBLO, CO MAY 21 , The new Race of the Rockies format that wa s introduced for the 95 seaso n is proving to be a good move lor the Motorcycl e Roadracing Ass0ciation. The new class is ope n to an y size and style 01 bike and offers some 01 the most exciting racing there is. The second race of the MRA season was held at the Pueblo International Racewa y. The com petiti on in all 11 classes seemed to have 'tu rned eve ry th ing u p a notch after ha v in g one race un der their belts to sort their bikes out. At t he start of th e Race of t he Rockies FZR /Tri-City-backed Ma rk Schellinger wa s awa y with a great start lo llowed closely by Bra ndon We lton o n his Honda CBR . Fran k Cowgill Yam a nd Ricky Or lando were in a hea ted battle over third . Aar on Turner was moving up through traffic after a poor start had him in the eighth pos ition. Holland unstoppable at Marysville Motocross By John Silva MARYSVILLE, CA, MAY 20 Yoko-backed Rusty Holla nd sw e p t t hro ugh Riverfront Park lik e a flood, taking w ins in l2See, 250ee and 500cc Pro competition during round t hree 01 th e CMC Suns tar Sprocket s Spring Classic National. The 2SOcc Pro s were the first racers to challenge the one-mile track , described as rough, last and d emanding. As the action got underway, it wa s Velv etouch-sponsored Ty Birdwell wh o was quick est off the gat e, chased by Rusty Holla nd , Scott Mye rs , Gr eg Tirhei mer, De nni s Krit zer and the rest 01 the 14-r id e r Pro field . Birdwell's lead lasted for two laps until Holland took con trol of first , but a ra re mistake moments later ha nded the lead back to Birdwell, as CPE racing's Seott Myer s also snu ck past Holland, who recov ered quickly and fended off chal lenges from Tirheimcr and Pat Gomm before breaking Iree to chas e alter Myers. Ho lland eventually passed Myers then we nt alter Birdwell as the whi te flag flew . Birdwell had enjoyed a hea lthy lead going into th e final circu it, but some ho w Ho lland ca ught up with hi m , and wh en the racers emerged from the back section and blazed down the final straight, Holla nd had the lead . Holland took the flag over Bird well, Myers, Gom m and Tirhcimer. Gomm holeshot moto two and held olf HoIland for two la ps, but there was no d enying Holland this day, as he dispa tched Gomm and ran awa y fro m the pack to win hand ily at the end 01 seven lucky laps.
