It is a true ple as ure to read about someon e with so much experience who is ded ica ted ' to the s p o r t. You guys really ask the rig h t questions. You also had great coverage' of the Ca jun Classic 100 (Louisiana Na tional Enduro). Only one min or mistake: it is Acadiana and not Arcad iana Dir t Rid ers. I know the club h ad to sell some snake oil to the Forest Rangers to keep the race from being canceled due to the weather. Jim Barrett (ADR Pres ident) told me later that th e Fo rest Service came to him after the rid ers m eeting wanting to cancel the event. Excellen t work by all those involved. I would also like to e xp r es s m y appreciation to Cycle New s for publishing our local results. We have received many compliments from both within the Bla c k Jac k End uro Circuit and our n eigh bo r circuits, SERA and TSCEC, whom we co-sanction with . Thanks again and keep up the excellent work. David Clemens Paris, TX A t icket to nowhere I cannot believe tha t a supercross event could change loca tions within a month of the scheduled race date . The upcom- ing June 3rd race wa s to be held in Denv e r, Colorado, and has been just changed to San Jose, California. I really would like to know who is responsible fo r this mismanagement? Is it the AMA/ AIR or Mile H igh Stadium? Perhaps both parties or others? In my opinio n this is an embarrassmen t to our sport as a professional event and nothing more than disregarding the fans . For me personally the fact that I have a non-refundable airline tick et isn 't what b others me the most, because I was also going to do some sight-seeing . What I'm upset about is I've made it a point to attend on e supercross race per season for the past couple of years and Denver was the one I chose for 1995. I'm also willing to bet that there ar e quite a few other disappointed fans that had been looking forward to see the now "phantom" Denver Supercross. I like to make a suggestion to the promoters and all others involved . In the future when you publish a race schedule yo u sho u ld have all negotiations and contracts in place. If not, don 't publish it! Ted Karnitz St. Joseph, Missouri career you can clearly see why Kevin was awarded with a factory ride. We do not need to compare Davey's amateur career to Kevin's because Kevin had the best amateur career of any mot ocross rider ever. All four of the factories wanted Kevin to ride for them and he deserved all of the attention he received. Kevin 's results are now showing that Yama ha made a very wise decision to sign Kevin. Mr . Bagwell would also like you to think that Da vey's bike is inferior to Kevin's. This is not the case with the new suspension rule in the 125cc SX class this year. On his personal life, Kevin is a grea t gu y. The sport of motocross will gain a lot from him. Kev in never get s a big head and he will always hang around until each and every fan is satisfied. I want to congratulate Kevin on getting the ride he so much deserved, and I wish h im and Davey the best of luck'. Last but no t least, I'll take any bet you want to make, Mr . Bagwell. Mike Guidroz Go nz al es, Loui siana I'm sure the promoters hadn't planned on the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group (M T EG), the promoting compa ny of the Denver S upercross, to fi le fo r bankruptcy halfw ay through the season. M TEG's fi nancial problems led to the fall of the Denver Supercross and the change of venue...Editor. The recent AHRMA Regional Half Mile at Willow Springs was fantastic. It has been a lon g tim e since fan s fill ed the stands and lined the fence at a flat track race. It's rea lly great that one of the top flat track racers of all time and h is am igo (Ed die Mulder and Gary Dav is) team up to promote a great event like th is. Now on the AMA. The AMA appears to have left central and so uthern California to "twist in the wind" in regards 10 flat track. Perhaps flat track racers should start a club of their own. Then we could keep the mighty 600 on the track where it belongs. We could also let the kids race their trick 80s, 125s and 250s (r ernern ber?). Then the s leepi n g AMA would have a steady supply of racers com ing up . Perhaps the AMA is phasing out flat track; maybe that's why they d on't seem to care abo ut entry level flat track events. Fred Berger Van Nu ys, California. Responding to Bagwell I w o u ld like to s a y a few things in response to Bob Bagw ell's letter (Voices, Issue #16, April 25) . I wou ld first like to sa y that I am not try ing to make a comparison between Davey Yezek and Kevin Windham, but in my mind and all other "C ajun" fan s, there is no comparison. I have nothing against Yezek because I have never even spoken to him. I do respect him because I know it is ha rd to race at this level as a privateer and I congratulate him on his performances. Now I would like to get to my main prob lem with Mr . Bagwell. He s tated that Kevin 's parents bought him his factory Yamaha ride. Both Dewayne and Margie Windham wo rk full-time job s. And by now means to do they have the money to bu y Kevin a factory ride. If you take time to look at Kevin's amateur Vinta ge Dirt Track Letten to the rdilor sho uld be sent to vctcee, Cycle News, P.O.
