wasn't that hard but last year got a little
harder. Now it's really tough. I've been
having bad luck this year but 1 feel like
I'm still in there (for the title). Thev said
at the rider's meeting that the track was
going to be the same as the four-wheeler
track, so on th e fir st lap 1 made a tum
when 1 should have gone straight, but
Plessinger w as follo wing me, so it w asn 't
to o bad o f a mi s ta ke . We came b ack
a ro u n d to th e track a n d 1 couldn 't
lected Cooper of the muddy day. "I give
it 100 percent because that's all 1 got and
if 1 get a third or a fifth, as lon g as 1 gave
it 100 percent, that's all 1 can ask fo r but 1want to be in that winner's circle."
" I'm glad 1 finally saw the checkered
flag," joked fourth o ve ra ll Bla ckwell,
who ha s had his fair share of misfortune
in 1995. " I can' t blame the switch from
Kawasaki to Yamaha for my bad luckit's been a lot of things. Today was a da y
for plugging away and just hoping that
som eth ing would h appen to e veryone
else."

Still, th ird overall was good enough

his stalled motorcycle when the clu tch
completely fried in the slop. (Also failing
to collect points wa s Team SCR Yamaha /Mirage's Tom Norton, who was tied
for third injhe standings with B'ville noshow Steve Hatch coming int o the race.
The radiator on Norton's Yamaha malfunctioned , lea ving him with no fluids
and no chance to finish .)
"I had a lot of fun tod ay but the tight
stuff got to be kind o f a hassle after
awhile," admitted Cooper, who n o w
leads th e GNCC points chase. " I have to
give a lo t of credit to Scott Ple ssinger
because he was riding really well, and so
was Fred Andrews. I w anted to hang
with Fred at the. end an d have a good
battle bu t I hit a tree short ly after he got
around me, so w e d idn' t have much of a
ba ttle at all!" As for Plessinger, Cooper
was respect fu l of the KTM rider's w et
weather effort. "Scott really impressed
me today with the speed he showed me
in the tight stuff. 1just hope we get a ho t,
dusty race here pretty soon where 1 can
show these guys what 1can do .
