most impressive performance
may have been his runner-up
finish in the second Open Pro
Sport moto, working his way
through a talented field after a
poor start to end up two lengths
short of Yamaha/Rock River/
bLU cRU Amateur Motocross
Team rider Mason Gonzales at
the finish.
"I had a problem coming off
the gate in the second 450
moto, but that's racing," said
Robertson. "I just listened to
Mike Brown and tried to stay
relaxed, have fun and ride tight
lines all week."
The final moto of the Open
Pro Sport division came down to
a head-to-head matchup be-
tween Robertson and Gonzalez
in a winner-take-all scenario,
with Gonzales passing Robert-
son on the opening lap to take
the early lead. Robertson kept
the pressure on Gonzalez and
made a pass for the lead with 11
minutes remaining in the moto,
holding on for an exciting win to
complete his Pro Sport Champi-
onship run.
"I was having fun; I knew
Mason was going to be tough
on the 450," said Robertson
who was riding a 250F. "He was
riding good and I was making
mistakes at the start of the race,
and I was thinking, 'Dang it, he's
getting away.' But I calmed down
and started hitting my lines.
Shout out to Mason, that was
fun every moto with him, bat-
tling it out. It was a good way to
end an amateur career here at
Loretta's."
Both Robertson and Gonzales
confirmed they will be compet-
ing in the opening round of the
AMA Pro Nationals at Loretta
Lynn's this weekend.
BarX/Chaparral/Suzuki's
Dilan Schwartz finished out the
week with second overall in
the 250 Pro Sports Champion-
ship and third in the Open Pro
Sports Championship, swapping
places in each class champion-
Ryder DiFrancesco
won all six motos
he competed in.
