Chris Carr won the Peoria TT and was pictured on the cover 30 years
ago. With the win, Carr increased his championship lead to 17 over his
nearest challenger Scott Parker... Doug Chandler took the win at the
AMA Superbike National at Mid-Ohio; Scott Russell finished second after
starting 38th... Eddie Lawson and Tadahiko Taira combined efforts to
win the Suzuka 8-Hour... Eric Geboers closed in on the 500cc World MX
title after winning both motos in San
Marino.

We featured our test of the 2000 Suzuki RM250 motocrosser on
the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago... Joel Smets clinched the
FIM 500cc Motocross World Championship in his home country of
Belgium with two rounds still left on the schedule... Troy Bayliss
and Neil Hodgson traded 1-2 finishes at the World Superbike
Championship round at Brands Hatch... We featured an interview with
Terry Vance and road racer Jeremy McWilliams... Honda's Tohru
Ukawa and Daijiro Kato took top honors at the Suzuka 8-Hour.
The Suzuka 8-Hour gets underway 20 years ago.
