Mike Campbell won the 80cc class.
Campbell w as hot as he got the early lead in
th e second mota and put noth ing b ut spa ce
betwee n him and second place. [n secon d place
was Scott Craven, who could not catch Campbell in either mota . The first mota was won by

fall almost cost him the race.
"I didn 't dea r a do ub le ju mp and hit and
bou nce d ," Tebos said . "And then just kin d of
rode off the track and fell on the side of a berm.
Luckily the bike didn't die, but that guy in second wa s pretty close after that."
Mike De Stefano was "tha t gu y" who took
seco nd in the moto but an 11th in the opening
round d ropped him down to sixth overall. Scott
Pekarek fought through traffic aga in after a midpack sta rt aboard hi s CR12S to take an ot her
third and secon d overa ll on the day.

Barry Carsten wa s the dass of the field as he
powered to victory in the 12SccExpert class at the
Hurricane Hills Sports Center's season opener.
Chad Kresge grabbed the ho leshot in the
firs t 12Scc Expert moto foll owed clo sely by
Jim my Mellvane, Barry ·Carsten, Carter Gu rnee
and Chris Ritter. Carsten was on the gas and put
a second -lap pass on Kresg e to tak e the t ~ad,
and he was off to the races, with the battle for
second being the one to watch . Kresge, just back
from winteri ng in R orid a, held on to second
