!iant form elsewhere, while Tarres was a
totally different proposition to that seen
on Saturday. Back was Tarres the World
Champion, flowing and moving as one
with the bike. He bounced right back
into contention with the bes t score on
the day's opening loop and then, just to
prove he was back in the groove, did it
again on the final loop.
"I rode much better .today. Yesterday
I did not feel right and I think I lost too
many marks to win now." reflected Tarres correctly as he waited for his rivals
to finish.
Ahvala was next in and his face lit up
as his three -mark final lap put him
ahead of Tarres, The pair then waited
for Colomer to finish. Colomer, never
one to smi le much, arrived, looked at
the scoreboard and shrugged his shoulders. He knew that a final loop of five
was too many and Ahvala had drawn .
first blood.
Camozzi too had motored around
the final circuit for three, and this
proved enough to join Lampkin - who
needed a four - on a total of 21. Because
of his better day-one results, Camozzi
was happy to accept fourth.
"Obviously, I'm not too chuffed to
finish fifth, but I'm not too worried,"
said Lampkin. "What matters is that
there is nothing at all wrong with my
riding. I'm right on the pace:'
Poker-faced Spaniard Joan Pons was
only a point further adrift in sixth on the
Gas Gas 330, and he was comfortably
ahead of Miglio in seventh. Colley only
made eighth place. thanks to a dynamic
last lap of five which followed a nightmare opener on Sunday when he suffered a massive 22.
" Eve ryth in g that could go wrong
did," said an exasperated Colley with
his head in his hands. "I just want to for.

Amos Bilbao was ninth after a weekend which saw his seesaw between brilliance and mediocrity. Overall, though,
it was a positive performance from the
fun-loving Spaniard and a revelation
after last season's nightmare.

Diego Bosis didn't seem too worried
with his 11th-place fini sh, but Na rita
was pretty de vastated with 12th. As
Nari ta studied the scoreboard, he said,
"I ha ve a problem, but I don't know
