Factory contingencies and a generous $10,000 purse attracted many top pros from across the Western United States, including the former Yamaha facto ry pilot Dubach and recently crowned AMA National Arenacros s Champion Jimmy Gaddis. The Jim Holley-designed track was tight and fast, allowing many po sition changes and providing the over 10,000 fans present an excellent show on both nights. Friday night 's 12S cc main e ve n t opened with Michael Brandes taking the holeshot over Florida transplant Anthony Pocorobba and Gaddis. Bran de s' lead did not last , however, as he crashed hard in the whoop section early in the race, allowing Poc orobb a a n d Gaddis by .
