Larry Gessne r and Scott Uebel ho r wo n their
classes, as nearly 187 riders showed up for the
first race of the yea r at the Super Sports Racing
facility.
Heavy A had the closest racing of the day
wit h Gessner and Mike Hoffman do ing battle.
Hoffman got the holeshot in the first mota with
Gessner a close secon d. Throughou t a ll nine
laps, Gessner showed Hoffman his front wheel
down the straights and in the comers, and the
two were side by side over the big dou ble a couple times during the mota. Hoffman took the
win in the first mota.
The second mota started like the first, with
Hoffman grabbing the lead when the gate
dropped and Gessner a close se co n d aga in.
Gessner was right on Hoffman's rear tire, and
the two were again side by side over the double.
Hoffman kept trying different lines until he
made an outside pass in a comer on lap seven.
Then he stretched his lead to win the second
mota and take the overall.
Brad Lentz ran in first place during the first
lap of the. 12See A first mota. Darin Cardwell
a nd .Scott Uebelhor we re ba ttling fo r second
place. Lap five saw Lentz bobble, and Cardwell
took over first wi th Uebelho r rig h t beh ind .
Lentz we nt to third. The first two battled until
lap eight when Uebelhor got by Ca rdwell and
won with a three-second lead.
Ucbe lho r nailed the start in the second mota
and wen t on to win it by seven seconds. But the
battle for second betwee n Lentz, Greg Burns and
Jonah Trussel las ted the w ho le mota . Trussel
hu ng on for second place even tho ug h thirdplaced Bums was sti ll pushing him right up to
the end of the race.
