The Kawasaki-mounted Schellenberger bested the field by winning both motes. Oth er action

to nab the ove rall victory in the 60cc class.

after a poo r sta rt was the "King of Mosier Valley," Suzuki rider Clay Hoenshell. By the thi rd
lap, Sche llenberger had establi shed a com fortable lead. Hoenshell charged by Pa tel on la p
four but had lost a lot of ground to Schellenberger. At the hal fway poi nt, Schelle nberger had a

be rger by the sa me 10 seconds, followe d by
Hoenshell and Jeff Schirtz .
Moto two saw Hoenshell lead the way into
the first tum. H oen sh ell, un familiar with the
new track layou t on open ing night, dove insid e
of the track marker and was forced to reenter the .
track in last place. By lap two, how ever, he had
picked his wa y into second place and mov ed
within striking distance of Schellenberg er. The
two riders pus hed each other, creatin g a race of
their own. Hoenshell position ed himself close
enough to take advantage of any miscue Schelienbe rger might make, but Schellenberger
di dn't make a mi stake. At the finish, it wa s
Schellenberger with the overall win, followed by
Hoenshell and Patel in the Pro class. Intermediate action saw Jason Eckoff s pair of moto wins
take the overall victory in that class.

Broughton power his way in to the early lead.
Behind the Kawasaki-m ounted Brou ghton were
KX ride rs Bradl ey Young and Brad Wolie. On
the secon d lap, Young to ok a dva n ta ge o f
Broughton not getting set up early enough to
cl ear t he d oubl e ju m p and leaped o ver
Broughton's head to take the lead. Broughton
stayed right on Youn g' s rear fender until the last
lap when he made his move. Brou ght on stayed
on the gas a split second longer and was able to
dive insid e of Youn g on the final comer. At the
finish it was Brought on by a wh ee l length ,
Young blasted his w ay to the front of the
pack at the s ta r t of t he seco nd mot o, but
Broughton foun d a way around You ng on lap
three. Th e tw o ba ttl ed wh eel-to- wh eel to the
checkered flag. At the finish, it was Brou ghton
who held on for the moto win and the overall
victo ry.
