"Bu t I wan t the bike to be affo rda ble. Right now, if yo u want one of these bikes all that you have to do is buy the moto r and the frame, and you can bolt the rest of you r existi ng hard ware right on. It's a tru e kit bike. I jus t wa nted to buil d a motorcycle completely from scratch, and this was as close as I could get." Thou gh it is already legal for Pro-Am competition, Lineaweaver says that h is next goal is to get the bike hom ologation for Gra nd National Cha m p ionship use. That involves making it ~eet the postrace minimum weight req u irement of 223 pounds and pon yi ng up $2500 for th e homologat ion fee . Both are mi no r obstacles. "I've come this far, I'm not going to quit now," Lineaweaver says. Lineaweaver admits tha t the Husaberg is in dire need of track time, something tha t the soggy Northern California weather has delayed. But the few hou rs spent riding the bike have proven to be frui tful. I'm more of a tuner, or without blowing my own hom too much, an artist. Everybody takes from the sport, but nobody puts anything back into it. This was my way of doing that." If Lineaweaver gets his wish. "giving back" to the sport may mean making Swedish the official language of Ameril~ can dirt track racing. Lineaweaver Racing! Husaberg 600 Realizing that he had something special. Lineaweaver selected nothing less than top-line componentry for the Husaberg. His vast expertise with intake and exhaust systems yielded an interesting choice of carburetors for the bike, a 41mm Keihin FCR roller flat-slide normally used for road racing. "It's a great carburetor beca use it's a fla t-slide, b ut th e rollers ensu re that it wo n' t stick like reg ular flat-slides when yo u roll off th e th ro ttl e," Lineaweaver says. "And becau se it's a push-pull carbu re tor, the th rottle action is light and smooth." Lineaweaver also fashioned his own exhaust co m plete with a carbon-fiber muffler that saves weight while sounding off at a quiet .97 decibels. The suspension package is also firstra te.
