. .MOTOCROSS , . AMA 1251250cc National Championship Motocross series ' Round 1: Gatorback Cycle Park (Above) A shattered front hub ended Mike laRocco's chance of an overall victory. After winning the first 250cc National, the defending champ was sidelined o nly a few laps into the second moto. (Left) Two-time 125cc National MX Champio n Doug Henry made his 250cc debut a good one , using a 6-2 ially for third overall. (Below) Mickael Pichon (101) chases down Brian Swink. The Frenchman, Pichon, ended up third in the 125cc National via 5-2 moto finishes. Once in front, Reynard had a fee lin g of d eja vu as h e raced away with th e sec ond-rnoto win for the secon d year in a row . . "Yeah, it reminded m e of last ye ar a little," s aid Reynard, who also spanked the co m pe titio n in th e seco nd m oto at the ' 94 National. " I jus t tried to s tay . sm oo th and not make any mi stakes. I'm exci te d because I'm only about 75 percent right now. Just wait until I' m 100 percent." Cooper was im p r ess ive as he h eld down second for s ever al laps, but th e crowd favorite would eventually drop to seventh. Honda of Troy's Bria n Swink h el d dow n second for the majority of th e mo to, and looked strong and confident aboard his new ride . It all fell apart, though, on the last lap . . "1 started to get a littl e tired, but then I s a w the fiv e- lap -to-go si g n, " said Swink. " I knew I could last five laps, so I p icked it up aga in. Bu t then I washed out in the back sweeper." Swink would finish fifth . Pichon was the man on th e move late in th e moto, passing th e fallen Swink and a fading Huffman in the latter s tages. The Pro Circuit rider ended u p seco n d, comfortably ah ea d o f Hughes, who had also passed Huffman. " I felt much loos er th at time, " said Pichon, who ended up third overall. " I am hap p y ." Huffman was happy with hi s secondoverall fi nish , in spite of his goggle mishap.
