Feely, Light land Curry
County Short Track wins
By Clay Ught
GOlDBEACH, OR, FEB. 19
Diminutive speedsters Cha d Feely and Sea n
Ligh t provided a good-size portion of the excitement at the indoor short trade: racing inside the
Curry County Fairgrounds Exposition Arena on
the southern Oregon coast
Much like it has been throughout the Northwes t for the past several seasons, the BOcc class
has cons istently drawn the largest numbers, and
today was no exception. Both Light and Bo IngeJ
picked up heat race wins, and in the BOcc Division I final Light rode a frantic pace to pick up a
win over sister Amy Light Jessy Adams netted
third.
Division 11 saw Ingel put h is Su zuki out
front, but the lead wa s short-Jived as Feely
sneaked a wheel ins ide and the Yamaha rider
we nt o n to a fair ly easy win. Second we n t
Ingel's wa y, while Honda -mounted Damieo
Saltzman p icked up third-place laurels.
The 125cc final wasn't much of a surprise,
though. as Beau Brown returned to racing after
an inj ury-induced five-week layoff and cakewalked to a wi n on his new 10000-kitted KX.
Brown left Ingels and Sean Light to scrap it out
over second, which went to Ingel
The day's closes t racing came in the 25lccOpen A final. Bob Ingel won the class qualifier
then pulled out to an early lead in the main and
maintained it throughout the 2(}.lapper. A great
second-place battle was waged between Cliff
Keith, Jesse Blair and Gift Helms. Keith held the
spot for most of the race, but Blair found an
opening and grabbed it for the remainder of the
race to pick up second to Ingle's CR.500. He]ms
got around Keith, with Chris Sheets pidcing up
fifth aboard an RMI25.
