Ride rs Ass ocia tion and the Bethal Fire Departme nt hosted the eighth annua l Ice Race Extravaga nza on Sandsho re Lake.
Although Henrichs ' riva l small -block com petit or Cody Swenson scored w ins du rin g th e
la st tw o DTRA ve n ue s, H en r ich s' lu ck was
abo ut to cha nge. Henrichs grabbed the ho leshot
at the sta rt of the Micro Mini main event an d led
a proce s sio n consisting of Swenso n , Lance
Gasse r t and Rand y Diba r tol g . T h e order
remained the same un til the checkered flag flew,
wi th Henri chs earning the win by a comfortable
margin .

A scary moment saw four -year-old Diba rtolg
crash hard on the last lap w hile running fourth .

remounted and finished the race.
Jus t afte r the onse t of th e O penB class, a
thn,e-way battle for the lead too k place betwc'Cn
John Larson, Jason Larson and Mark Deal that
lasted for the first five laps. Then, Joe Tro mberg
a rr ived o n the s ce ne . After gating mid p a ck,
Tro mbe rg mounted a char ge that saw h im systemat ically pick off the three front-runne rs with
each succeedi ng arcu it. By lap eight of the 10lap featu re Trombe rg was in control of the lead
and pu lli ng away. Tr omberg th en went on to
sco re the win by a comfortable margin ahead of
John Larso n, Deal and the rest of th e pack. After
th e race, Tr omberg explained his new-fo u nd
speed .

The Novi ce class saw three different leaders
during the first half of th e race. Eve n tually,
Todd Lind wo rked his way to the front for good
to score the win ahead of Tod d Mathwig, Luke
Wiita la, Jay Donnel and Troy Wiset h.
Last year Darren Chelin rew rote the DTRA
record books by becoming the first rider to win
each and every race of the season in the 250 B
class. Wit h on ly one race rem ai ning. the on ly
rid er wi th a chance of ma tching Che lin's accom~
plishment is ID-year-old Ad am Dea l in the 80cc

the last thre laps.
