Team O'Neal's Dubach rebounded from his disappointing 125cc Pro finish by coming back for the wi n in the 250cc Pro class. Dubach walke d all ove r th e co m petitio n in th e fir st mot a , ea rning w hat appeare d to be an easy wi n . Keeney rode consistently and fin ished second in front of Ant hony Pocorobba, Brand es and Jeff Willoh . The seco nd mot o saw Dubach chase afte r Keeney and Sheak for most of the race and make a critica l pass on the last lap where he stuffed it past Keeney to take second place and secure the overall vic tory. She ak's secon d- mo te victory, combined with a firs t-mote DNF, left him 11th overall for the day. NCY / Scott-backed Tim Beatty used consistency to score the overall win in the 125cc Intermedia te class. Form er Mini ace [ iri Dostal won the opening m ota after a close battle with Beatty. Casey Lytle finished third on a borrowed bike. "Our race bike seized befo re the race, so I used a 125cc Beginner 's Kawasaki," Lytle said. FEB. 12 cott Sheak dropped the local Perris pros to th e ir kn ees with an imp ressive double mota sweep of the 125cc Pro class during round five of the GFI Wint er Series at Perris Raceway. Team Or an ge County Suz uk i set the p ace with Sh eak and teammate Gr eg Schnell lead ing the way during the start of the firs t moto. Michael Brandes and Cory Keeney began to sc ra p for third place before co lli d ing over th e fini shline jump. Brandes called it quits for the mota , whil e Keeney rem ounted an d eventually worked h is way b ack to a disappointi ng 15th-place finis h. Up fron t, a seesa w battl e was taking place between Sheak and Schnell , but every ti me th at Schnell woul d try to close the gap, Sheak would crack open the throttle a little more and puU away. In th e en d, Sheak crossed the line first for the mot a wi n, while Schne ll settled for second. "I have a crack in my fibula," Schnell sa id after the mota .
