Neese jumped back into the lead on the grandstand straight and the two swapped the point alternately. On the final lap, Neese had the ou tside at the elevator jump, when Ticheno r lost speed and cased the top of th e p lateau. He remoun ted to take second. "Tichenor had position on me two lap s before and I passed up the jump," sai d Neese. "He was really going for it to try from the insid e." . In th e closest Vet p ro class of th e series, Alan Andreu , Kurt McMillan and Mike Andrews cha llenged series leader Earl May for the win. McMillan pu sh ed Ma y in moto one until falling. An dreu and Ric k y Palm e r led Ma y and Andrews in th e final. Andrew, in his best race, took the lead until May finally passed him in the end .
