Chris Wheeler were engaged in a battle for th e fou rth spot. Preston w as able to hold off the charge, b ut th e race came down to the wire. With one lap to g o Nelson was not ready to give in . Nelson was on the rea r tire of Wal ters, and before the lap was ha lf ove r he moved into second and proceeded to chase after Brandes. At the fin ish, Bra nd es held on to take the win a s N e ls o n crossed to e a r n a w elldeserved second. In the s econd moto, W ill oh pulled ' the h oleshot, follow ed by Brandes and Walters . From th e s ta r t of the race the leade rs were no more than one second apart at any given tim e. Th e top three r id e rs w ere railing the tra c k li k e a freight train until Wa lters w en t d own. Brandes moved int o the race for the lead and was all over the track trying to find a lin e aro und W illoh , but n o th ing seemed to work. With time running ou t and the w hi te flag flying hig h, Brandes m ad e o ne la s t attempt fo r the le ad . Bra nd es set u p Willoh while en te rin g the uphill tu m over the tunnel, shot to the inside and pushed Willoh into the soft sand, taking the lead . Brandes went on to take the win and the overall while Willoh and Sebastien settled for second and third. In the 250cc Pro class, Bran d es battled with th e likes of Rick Ta ylor and Chris Wheeler.
