The AMA Pro Racing dep artmen t has changed some things for the upcoming road racin g se ason, acc ording to Ron Barrick. Sealsco president, Lou Seals, called the Cycle News office to offer some "clarification" on the Dave Despain/MotoWorld situation. "Dave Despain chose not to ta ke part in all the fla g-to-flag coverage on ESPN - that was his dec ision," Seal s sai d . "We wanted him in that flag-to -f1ag coverage. The two things are d ifferent packages; MotoWorid is our company and the others ar e owned by ESPN. He (Despain) ch ose not to do the others. The AMA has announced a new motorcycle towing service - AMA MoTow, an emergency roadsi de assistance program ava ilable only to current members of the AMA. AMA MoTow is availa ble for $25 a year a nd includes coverage for any 1975 or ne w e r mo torcycle. I AMA·posts $1 00,000 Grand National C'ship Series oint fund I n order to strengthen and better promote motorcycling 's most traditional championship series, the AMA has posted a $100,000 Championship Bonu s for the 1995 Grand Na tiona l Cha mpi onship Series. . "Interest in GNC racing is at an all-tim e high, from both the fans and sites wan ting our events," said Tom Mueller, president of AMA Pro Racing. "We are actively p ursuing a series sponsor, b u t until one is sec ured, the AM A will underwrite its own $100,000 bonus program. This is a major commitment on the AMA' s part, but we wan t to maintain momentum for this unique American sport." En tering its 41st year, the AMA Gra nd National Cham pionship Series will open March 11 at Municipal Stad ium in Daytona Beach , Florida. Seven months and 25 events later, the series will conclude at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California, on October 25.
