The Frenchmanfirst drew stateside attention two years ago, ~hen he and several of his countrymen en tered the first fewrounds of the 125cc Western Regional Supe rcross Series. Pichon was impressive, riding strong and even earning a win in San Diego. Last year, Pichon conc entrated on the 125cc World Championship MX circuit, finishing sixth, but now - with the assistanceof Pro Circurl - he is attacking the East Co series. In his brief '93 America stint, ast n Pichon's boyish looks and friendly attrludeprovedpopular wrlh the spectators. Will Mi kael bethe c nextJean-Michel Bayle? Many pun assumed Damon Huffman would dits move up to the 25Dcc division following last year's impressive performance, but Huff an says he plans to be in the sport for many m years - and that he'll have plenty of time to ride the big bik We es. admire his decision not to rush things, and feel one more year onthe tiddlers will do him good. Decker still hasn't pulled off a win, but now he's a factory pilot for Team Suzuki, a squad well known for the careir ful grooming of 125 riders. Under the guidance of teammate Damon Huffman, we expect thesoft-spoken rider to blossom into a contender. Craig should pull off atleastone victory in'95. 4. Jimmy Butt n o 64 145 m 5. Damon Huff an 55 6. RobbieReynard Ryan Hughes Team SplitFireJPro CircuitlKawasaki Escondido, California f rl wasn't forbad luck, Ryan Hughes wouldn't have anyluck at all. Though he arguably puts out more effortthan any other rider on the track, this sometimes proves to be his downfall. Hughes tends to go into the race wrlh a "win or bail" attitude, and us every square inch es of the bike as he attacks the track's many obstacles; rarely does he complete a season without injury. Last year the Team SplitFire rider's problems were more mental, due primarily to the untimely pa ssing of his.father. Though he won more rounds than anyone else, failing to make the main inAnaheim(days after the death) held himto a lowly fourth in the series. To put rl bluntly, "Ryno" is pissed. He and Damon Huffman ha a run-in at the final round in d Las Vegas, and the two a re anything but the best of friends. Ryan would like nothing better than to prove he is capable ofmore than a fourth-place series finish. 155/1 win 5. Chad Pederson #9 4. Mi e Brown k 119 6.Steve Lamson 50 win /1 7.
