thi rd . Houseman and Jacob Currey filled the
top six.
Fisher, the Nati onal #12-plate holder, sat on
the pole for the Open Pro main, and jus t as he
did in qualifying, flew to an eas y win for the top
cas h payoff. ATK rider To m You ng, who contested three classes, ha d a grea t battl e with Mark
Stu deb ake r and Rotax rider Josh Currey. Currey
crashed an d mad e things easier for Young, who
is best known for his off-road skills, to take second mone y a half-lap back of Fisher.

ma in, which was a shootout be tween Yam aha
rid er s Joe Len z and Ferri s. Fer ris led th e fir st
e igh t la ps on his 1975 Kenny Robert s YZ250B,
but Len z u sed lap ped traffic to stick a wheel
past for a win. Third went to polesitter Crane,
while Mann ing, John Cleme ns an d Dan Dickson
followed .

Preston pretty fast
at Edwards Motocross

Desert Wheels M.e. played host to the Califor nia Racing D ub as the first roun d of the ann ual
Trophy Series got sta rted on the power-sapping
sand track located at Edwa rds Air Force Base.
Travis Preston and Bill Sauro each nabbed a
25Oa:Pro moto win with Preston topping the second moto to take home the largest wad of cash.
Preston edged out David Gennain and Erik
Lindstrom as mota one began"Both Gennain and
Lindstro m fell victim to the charge of Sauro by
the completion of lap one. Tim Telford followed
suit and also got aroun d Germain and Lindstro m
to control third place a short time later.
A slight miscue by Preston on an up hill stepup jump cost him the lead when he got a lillie too
sideways upon landing an d went down. Pres ton
quickly " .' overed to hold on to second ahea d of

Telford. Tony Sulek made his way pas t Lindstrom
at the midway point to hold down fourth place.
It took Preston about a lap to reel in Sau ro
an d start applying pressure, but Sauro ma naged
to kee p Preston at bay for the exciting first -moto
wi n. Telford finis hed a co mforta ble margin
ahea d of Sulek in third.
Preston kn ew wha t he ha d to do , and
grabbed the secon d- mote holesh ot. Sa uro was
running a close seco nd with Lindstrom and
Telfo rd in tow. Sauro tried to stick a wheel in
under Preston a few times. but Preston turned
u p th e w ick and pulled out a thr ee -second
advant age tha t he would maintain un til the finish. Sauro wo uld have to sett le for second ahead
of Telford, wh o ran a lonely third
