lap, Morga n p ressured and sea rched for a way
around Templeton, a nd the pa_ir ope ne d up a
respectable lead on the rest of the pack . There
was plen ty of bar-banging from both of the comba tants, an d the last lap had the crowd on its

too hot and left the tiniest opening.
Morgan saw his chance and pushed thro ugh,

could manage only 11th. Templeton p roceeded
to thrash the 2SOcc A class.
Saturday's performance began with Templeton vowing furth er vengeance, and he got it, but
not quite in the way he had planned. A first-tu m
pileup in 125cc A delayed over half the Pro field,
including Templ eton and Morgan, and allowed
Mike N u tt er to e me rge as the lead er . Nutte r
held off ha rd-charging Todd Bennick until the
ha lfway po int, whe n Bennick ou tjumped him to
grab the lead. Humphrey followed a lap later,
p utting Nutter in third and bringing him to the
attentions of Wallin and Moree. Late in the race
Moree's Honda swapped in the whoops, sending h im throug h the banners. Mor ee salv age d
seven th place, whi le Bennick, Humphrey, Nutter, Wallin and Gaylon Dickson Jr. filled ou t the
top five.
Dete rmined no t to ge t caught aga in in the
fir st turn, Morgan d ro pped the hammer on
2SOcc A and was gone, Dickson blazed to runner-up, followe d by Mo ree, Humphrey and
Wallin . Temp leton again ran into difficul ties and
finished in the back.

Old pros Beier and Musgra ve tried to p ut the

moto two and trying to run away. But Ama radio
kept his cool, leaving the wily veterans to race
each other for two laps before making tw o relatively easy passes for the lead . Kady got off to a
stro ng early moto run as well, sneaking by Beier
and then Musgr ave by lap five.
Ama ra d io again step pe d out to a healt h y

fourth overall.
Late in the moto , Beier too k a few shots at
Mu sgrave in an attempt to take over seco nd

off his bike while trying too hard on the uphill
d uring the last lap. Amaradio too k the w in to
