Round #10 · The SILVERDOME · PONTIAC, MICHIGAN (#309E) It might have taken him every available lap of the evening's program to do it, but Team Hondall ·800-COLLECTs Jeremy -McGrath recorded his seventh win of the 1D-race-old Camel Supercross Series under the air-supported roof of the Pontiac Silverdome. And in doing so, McGrath's name was written down in the record books as the first rider ever to win a main event after having to qualify for the feature race through a Last Chance Qualifier. . This may have been one of McGrath's most challenging and memorable races ever, as he crashed in his heat race, and had to ride a semi-final, where mud and a rock jammed his rear brake pedal. That put him into the Last Chance Qualifier, which he won in order just to get to the main event. After taking the last choice available on the starting gate, McGrath amazed everyone by not only getting a good start, but went on to take the main event victory. -The last lap got a little crazy w~h the race for second place as Honda's Doug Henry, Team NoleeniSizzlerlXtreme's Larry Ward and Kawasaki's Mike laRocco all went into the last tum three abreast and only one rider came out of the comer on two wheels for the checkered flag! Join over 47,000 fans In the Silverdome with this exciting 47·minute program from Motovideo. Round #11 - The METRODOME " MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (#310E) At the first Coors Light Challenge Supercross ever held under the air-supported roof of Minnesota's Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the end result was no different than it had been for most of the past two seasons as defending AMA Camel Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath rode to his 18th career victory and extended his series points lead to an almost untouchable margin. McGrath had to work for his win, however, as Team Yamaha's Mike Craig passed Jeff ' Chicken" Matiasevich for the lead and stayed ahead of the Team Hondall -80D-C OLLECT star for much of the race. An extremely vocal and enthusiastic crowd of over 46,000 turned out for Minnesota's inaugural supercross to watch the riders do baltle on what many described as the best track of thayear. 47 minutes from Motovideo. _ Round #12· TEXAS STADIUM - DALLA S, TEXAS (#311E) Team Kawasaki's Mike laRocco could hardly believe his luck, but what he had expected to happen...happened. As he chased just out of striking distance from race leaders Mike Kiedrowski and Jeremy McGrath, all laRocco could hope for was to see the pair ahead take each other out in order for him to take the race win. As laRocco and over 33,000 screaming fans looked on, McGrath tried a last-lap stuff under Kiedrowski, and In the process augered himself into the dirt and put Kiedrowski into the haybales, giving laRocco just enough daylight to sneak by for the win. The result was one of the most exciting Supercross finishes everl The fans at Texas Stadium were in for a special treat, as the 125cc class featured the combined Eastern and Western showdown. The racing was serious, with a dogfight between Team Suzuki's Jimmy Button, Damon Huffman, and Team SplitfirelPro CircuiVKawasaki's James Dobb and Ryan Hughes. They say everything's big in Texas, and the racing doesn't get much bigger or better than this 47-minute show from Motovideol . Round #13· The KINGDOME · SEATTLE, WASHINGTON (#312E) If there's one person who lives by the words 'never give up" it's Team Kawasaki's Mike Kiedrowski. For the second round in a row, the factory Kawasaki rider from Canyon Country, California proved that a supercross ain't over 1i1 lt's over. Kiedrowski battled back from a seemingly impossible six-second deficit on series points leader Jeremy McGrath to win his second Coors Light Challenge main event of the year in front of over 33,000 spectators at the Seattle Kingdome. In 125cc action, Team Suzuki's Damon Huffman worked his way through the pack to challenge Team Splitfire/Pro CircuiVKawasaki rider Ryan Hughes for the lead. In an exciting last-lap duel, one of these young stars sampled the Kingdome soil, while the other continued on to take the checkered flag in first.
