1995 E YZ250 ve ry season. the really serious ra c ers get their n ew 25 0's, take th em home-tear them a part-and tri ck th em o ut. It's Just the standard routine that ra c ers go through. Bad news guys-you can't do th at anymore. • You see , we took th e YZ2 50, a nd rather than take It home. we took It to th e factory. Tore It apart. 1>.nd rea lly tricked it out. • We started with th e e ngine. adding a resonator box to th e Powe r Valve system and u sed a Ke lhin ca rb uretor whi ch gave th e motor a hard er hi t In th e mid-rang e portion of the powerband to g ive you more puLli ng power o ut o f the corners. We c ha ng ed th e Intake ma ni fold rad ius and re e d va lve system for improved a ir flow. Eve I') th e a irbox passagewa y got boosted , so the YZ250 can take b igger oxygen gUlps. 1>.nd we changed the Internals o f th e Powe r Valve for more contro l and a longer. wider p ower hit. Th en we topped It Off with a st ronger Ig nitio n system th at genera tes higher volta g e at th e spark plug. We even dove Into the transmiss ion and figured out a way to rnoke It Shift c risper. • The next stop was handling and suspension. We went Into the Racing Department and borrowed their fork design that featu res ·th e new mid-range travel valve. It boosts the suspens ion's mldstroke performance (where your forks work the hardest). Then we slipped In a larger shock p iston and ring set-up. Finally. we changed the steering head angle. tucked It In a tad for quicker steerIng . the n c hanged the triple clamp Offset to p rov ide Just the right balance between prec ise steering and stra ight-line stability. • From there we moved onto Improving the b ra kes. The f ront now ha s new pads for a . more positive feel. while the rear got a new stainless steel rotor and a new caliper guard. 1>.nd since the wheels were Off anyway. we designed a new spoke set-up to g ive you more time between maintenance Interva ls. • The la st thin g we did was brighten the color a little bit.
