Summers also h ad a tang le with
brothers Brian and Frank Keegan, wh o
were dueling tog et her for the 250cc A I'
class win . "Frankie w as bum ping my
wheel and I was yelling at Summers to _ I
move ove r," said Brian Keegan, w ho
ended up winning the class. "I bumped
in to his wheel and he fell over. He got
up and went after my helmet, trying to
drag me off my bike. Frankie was hit in
the legs when he was trying to get me,
then he (Sum mers) just kin d of settled
down . It was weird."
And re ws wa s in a s ta te of anger
when he crossed the finish line, but it
had more to do with th e last lap then

on the trail "I saw Scott Su m mers ou t
there going fro m place to place telling
Plessinger how far ahead he was," said
Andrews. "I don 't care about th at. It's
actually good because it shows that he
likes somebody."
" I was just a spectator today," said
Summers. "It's not very often that you
get to ride around and watch one of
these thin gs."

"Towards the end I started getting a
little tired," said Blackwell, who settled
fo r third right in front of Conner. " I
knew Duane was back there. He caught
me at the first checkpoint, and from
there on out we had a great race to the
finish. He stuck a wheel in on me one
time and almost got me , but I shut the
door on him and then just tried to get
some lappers between us and stir up as
much dust as I could to slow him down!
I guess it wo rked."
" I think I needed a 900 today," joked
Norto n, w ho was p ilotin g his tric kedo ut KDX200 on th e fa st High Po int
track. " I didn't ge t a very good start
and I got dusted in the beginning. Basically, I ju st stayed where I was in fifth
p lace all day long. I fell tw ice but one
tim e a guy got hung up in a big vi ne
and 1 had to swerve to miss him. I went
off to the side and got my chest protect or. caught on m y handlebar . It w as
weird because that's never happened to
me before."

"I'm sti ll not fast eno ugh," sai d Car son. "I' ve got to get faster and smoother
in the woods. Those other guys are so
smo oth and I' m still a little b it erratic.
I've got to dodge those trees quicker. I'm
just going to have to start going out into
the woods where there's no trails and go
as fast as I can , picking lines and avoiding trees."
"I know I can finish behind him at
the last race and still win the championship but I would rather just beat him"
said Plessinger of the grand fina le coming up on Halloween weekend. "I want
to prove that I be long up th ere a.t th e
top. "
